Conor McGregor had what could only be called an atrocious season on The Ultimate Fighter 31. The Irishman was facing off against rival coach Michael Chandler this season. Team McGregor lost all fights except one in the group stages, compelling the UFC to shift some members from Team Chandler to his team.

And one of these fighters and close friends, Lee Hammond, made it to the TUF finale at UFC 292. He faced Kurt Holobaugh in the lightweight bout. After two rounds of dominating his opponent, Hammond submitted to Holobaugh with seconds left in the two-round contest. This has prompted ‘Mac’ to take to Twitter and demand a rematch for Hammond.

McGregor felt that Hammond was well on his way to a victory over Holobaugh before his abrupt submission. He called Hammond the real star of the thrilling bout. The Dubliner urged Dana White to schedule a rematch between the two and congratulated his SBG gym and team.

“Lee Hammond was cruise sailing to victory over Hobo. It was so easy it was too fucking easy. We call for the rematch now @danawhite. Lee was the real star of the UFC LW contestants and kicked and punched Kurt around easily. Rematch time! Well done Team SBG, Team McGregor #Winners” he tweeted.

Lee Hammond replied to the former UFC two-division champion’s demand in a retweet and simply stated that he would love to rematch Holobaugh.

‘Notorious’ mocks Holobaugh on Twitter

In another tweet, the father of three mocked Kurt Holobaugh on his performance against Hammond. He was not a fan of the way the Louisiana native was throwing elbows and felt it was out of an episode of the film series Bum Fights.

The win at UFC 292 would have meant a lot to Kurt Holobaugh who is already 36 years old. He was part of the MMA promotion StrikeForce back in 2013 when it was acquired by the UFC. The lightweight was let go from the organization soon after. His second run in the UFC ended likewise after a three-fight losing streak. But, by winning the lightweight bracket of TUF, he has another chance to succeed at the highest level of the sport.
