With just hours to go for the showdown between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes at UFC 314, the world of mixed martial arts has divided itself into two factions. And as the factions continue with the speculations, the battle between them has intensified, not just between fans but also tall figures of the sport. And that battle led Michael Bisping to lash out at Colby Covington. According to ‘Chaos’, Volkanovki doesn’t look good enough to win at UFC 314. And ‘The Count’ did not like it!

Taking to his YouTube channel, Bisping reacted to Covington gunning for Lopes’ victory . On top of that, ‘Chaos’ pointed out that Volkanovski was probably fighting just for the monetary aspect. “I believe he’s just cash grabbing,” he said.

The former middleweight champion, however, disagreed with the notion. He said, “I think Volkanovski, yes, he’s made plenty of money, and yes, he has the opportunity to make a lot more money as well. But Volkanovski is a true fighter. He’s showing up because he wants to be champion of the world again. He’s showing up because he doesn’t want to end his career on losing three out of four. And because he feels that he’s still got the goods. And he has still got the goods.”

Bisping reflected back on the time when Volkanovski faced Yair Rodriguez at UFC 290 and dominated him, finishing him via ground-and-pound finish. Dismissing the Australian’s 2-fight losing streak, ‘The Count’ claimed, “But Volkanovski is fighting because he’s here to win.” And as far as Covington’s comments were concerned, ‘The Count’ lashed out at him for his hot take and pointed to the former interim welterweight champion advertising a gambling product for clicks on his channel. In the end, he said, “Volkanovski is a class act. Everybody loves this guy. Leave Volk alone!”

Of course, Colby Covington wasn’t the only one who believes that ‘The Great’ might face defeat for the third time in a row at UFC 314. Former UFC heavyweight contender,Brendan Schaub also has similar beliefs. Let’s take a look at what the MMA analyst and podcaster had to say about who would win the upcoming featherweight title fight.

Brendan Schaub expresses concern for Alexander Volkanovski ahead of UFC 314

‘Bapa’ agrees with Michael Bisping about Volkanovski doing almost everything better than his opponent. From a technical standpoint, Volkanovski is supreme. However, Lopes is younger, has a greater finishing power, and quite explosive in the Octagon. Taking to his YouTube channel, Brendan Schaub weighed in on the stylistic matchup between the fighters in the UFC 314 headlined.

“When it comes to skill, striking, grappling, wrestling, cardio, IQ, experience, Volkanovski destroys him at everything,” Schaub said, before adding, “But, Volkanovski is 36 years old. There’s never been a guy over 35 to do what Volkanovski is attempting. If Alex were a little bit younger, I’d pick him all day. I’m rooting for Alex, I want him to win, but it’s never been done before.” And Lopes seemed to have plans that reflected Schaub’s assessment in a positive light.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Volkanovski defy age and critics to reclaim his title, or is Lopes the new king?

Have an interesting take?

The #3 featherweight contender Diego Lopes made his intentions clear to Daniel Cormier, on what he intended to do with the former 2-time champion. And it didn’t look pretty. He said, “But I have got to finish this fight. I’ve not trained to make the decision; I train to finish the fight. Look at my record; it’s 26 wins, 22 finishes. This is my goal — my goal is to finish the fight.”
