Ian Garry and Joaquin Buckley do not like each other. At all, the surging welterweights, of course, look to be on collision course, and cannot stop talking trash about each other. The latest example of this came as ‘New Mansa’ posted a video of him at the weigh-ins for Garry’s clash with knockout artists, Carlos Prates, at UFC Kansas City last weekend.
While Garry won the fight via a unanimous decision, ‘New Mansa’ took some personal shots at the Irishman. But that wasn’t all, he even posted a video from the weigh-ins on his Instagram account, where he could be seen going towards the stage. As he approaches the stage, Garry’s wife, Layla, hands over their baby son to Ian on stage. She then turns around and sees ‘New Mansa’. She greets him and touches him on the arm, like any polite person would. But Buckley had a very different and humorous recollection of the events, as he hilariously described the aforementioned scene frame by frame on his Instagram account.
“Whattup y’all? Y’all know how I had to pull up on Ian Garry at the wegh-ins, for talking all that mess in the interview. So, I wait till he get done, I wait patiently. As soon as I pull up, boom, she [Garry’s wife] brought him [their baby son] right to him. She gonna use the baby as a shield pass him off to him. So I’m like ‘Aight, aight, I’ll let you have that one.’ But as soon as I’m about to turn around, she comes over to me, caress my arm, and say ‘I’ma see you later on tonight.’ Bro the f–k that mean? I’m trying to see him, not you,” ‘New Mansa’ said, tongue firmly in his cheek.

Garry and Buckley, of course, were originally set to face each other at the UFC Tampa card last December. However, Garry pulled out to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov on short notice at UFC 310, and the fight never materialized. But as you can see, there is no love lost between the two promising welterweights. Which was more than apparent at the post-UFC Kansas City presser.

Joaquin Buckley flames Ian Garry at the post-UFC Kansas City presser
Three days before their UFC Kansas City fight, Ian Garry told MMA Mania in an interview that “Joaquin Buckley barely speaks f—king English.” And that is the comment that seems to have fired up ‘New Mansa’, leading to him making the aforementioned video implying Layla was hitting on him. But that wasn’t all. The bombastic knockout artist not only trashed ‘The Future’s win over Carlos Prates, but also answered him about the ‘barely speaking English’ part.
“I think it was trash. I really think Ian Garry had the potential to put it on Prates, but he tried to play it safe the whole time, tried to keep from getting knocked out. Obviously, we’ve seen that Prates, in that fifth round, he was trying to get to him and he turned Ian Garry into a booty boy. My man tryin’ to wrestle, my man tryin’ to hold on for dear life,” Buckley told reporters at the post-fight presser. Prates, of course, knocked down the Irishman in the final round and nearly secured a finish, but Garry held on and made it to the end of the round, winning a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecard.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Joaquin Buckley's playful jab at Ian Garry's wife crossing the line or just good banter?
Have an interesting take?
“The reason why he don’t understand me is because I don’t speak c**kanese. You understand? So I can understand why he didn’t understand me the first time,” Buckley said of Garry questioning his verbosity. Of course, this is not the first time Ian has been accused of being a c**k. The welterweight star and his wife used to live with her former partner, who is a well-regarded nutritionist and used to work with Ian.
But the UFC world, as you can imagine, found this living arrangement hilarious and had a lot of fun at his expense, calling him a cuck over it. So it is not surprising Buckley went for the lowest-hanging fruit to try and trash Garry—both at the press conference and in his Instagram video. What do you think about Joaquin Buckley trashing Ian Garry and his wife?
