Jon Jones made a triumphant return from his hiatus at UFC 285, won the UFC heavyweight belt, and promptly dipped. At least that’s what UFC President Dana White thinks. The UFC head honcho also mentioned that ‘Bones’ will step out of his lair once a fight has been made. However, these statements from White are ammunition for former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic to take shots at Jones.

After beating Ciryl Gane in dominant fashion at UFC 285, Jon Jones called out former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. For many fans, Miocic is the heavyweight GOAT and Jones is the light heavyweight GOAT. Therefore, a battle of the GOATS would be the type of challenge that would make the fans tune in. Furthermore, Jon Jones is always on the lookout for new challenges.

Although there were talks of the pair ducking it out during international fight week, there has been no concrete fight announcement yet. Meanwhile, Jones also accused Miocic of avoiding him and stalling the negotiations. However, the 40-year-old has not fired back at Jones over the comments from Dana White.

Stipe Miocic takes a shot at Jon Jones

In a recent interview, Dana White addressed why Jon Jones has been lying low since UFC 285. The 53-year-old said that the new heavyweight champion vanished after the title win, asking to be called up when the Miocic fight was a done deal. However, Stipe Miocic found an irregularity in the comment. He responded to the clip on Twitter, saying, Weird… because last month you said I was the one running @JonnyBones.” The former champion also tagged Jones in the tweet to make sure he did not miss the comment.

So far, the UFC has announced two other title fights targeted for UFC 290- Alexander Volkanovski vs. Yair Rodriguez for the featherweight title and Brandon Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja for the flyweight title.
