Sean Strickland is at it again, and not in the octagon. The former middleweight champion, who is known for his nonchalant behavior and wild adventures has once again found himself in the clutches of injury a month after his bloody battle against Dricus Du Plessis. From dirt bike mania to reckless sparring, ‘Tarzan’ really lives up to his nickname as his idea of taking a rest often lands him in hot water. As Robert Whittaker calls for a fight against Strickland, he appears to be in a mood to injure himself.

The former middleweight champion took to his Instagram handle to upload a story showing himself spending time with friends while skiing in the snow. Sharing the story, ‘Tarzan’ mentioned that he might have injured himself during the trip. He captioned the story with, “I swear I hit every rock and branch on the way down. knee was bleeding after this one.” This is just one month after he indulged in a bloody battle against Du Plessis at UFC 312.

Strickland’s latest escapade might throw a wrench in Robert Whittaker‘s plans for the future. Why, you ask? Well, the former middleweight champion has his eyes set on a showdown with ‘Tarzan.’ While having a conversation with ‘MMArcade,’ ‘Reparer’ emphasized that he would like to clash against Sean Strickland in the future, “That would be great. International Fight Week.”

However, if Strickland ends up sidelined with an injury, Whittaker might find himself with no choice but to move up to light heavyweight to keep his momentum alive. While Whittaker is looking to jump to the higher division, Sean Strickland might have other plans for him while battling against the brass of the division. Well, injuries are nothing new to the former champion as he has been known to battle against them. Interestingly, there was a time when he was advised by the doctors to leave fighting.

When Sean Strickland was told to he may never fight again

Back in 2018, Sean Strickland found himself battling the biggest setback of his life when a van cut him off, rendering him unconscious for many hours while he was riding his motorcycle. When he was awake, the fighter panicked as he was surrounded by nurses and law enforcement. Giving clarification to the accident, Strickland at that time added, “I think I was going straight, and a car turned out in front of me. I got into an accident going 45 miles per hour. I was unconscious for about three hours.”

Sean Strickland suffered multiple injuries in the accident, including a torn patella, dislocated kneecap, torn quadriceps, and a fractured nose. Following leg surgery, doctors cautioned the fighter, nicknamed ‘Tarzan,’ that his return to the octagon might never be possible. “I had a doctor coming up to me saying, ‘You’re going to surgery’, and at that moment I started crying a little bit,” Sean Strickland stated. “I don’t know if it’s just the lifelong battle with depression that fighters have but I just remember waking up like, ‘F—”, I hope I can fight again.’”
