The UFC welterweight division is quite noisy at the moment with contenders Colby Covington, Belal Muhammad, Kamaru Usman, and Khamzat Chimaev all trying to get their hands on each other. Most of them want the next shot at Leon Edwards‘ title, while Kamaru Usman wants to earn a title shot. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ decided that a win over Khamzat Chimaev might be the best way to earn another ticket for a run at the title.
He has been going back and forth with ‘The Wolf’ on social media over a potential fight. However, UFC president Dana White does not seem to be a big fan of the idea. While it has all the makings of an epic clash, White does not want to make it a catchweight bout.
While the weight class and White’s mind remain undecided about the fight, Belal Muhammad thinks the fight will not happen for a completely different reason. The #3 ranked welterweight does not think Chimaev will fight Usman. He had his own reasons for believing the same.

Belal Muhammad rips Khamzat Chimaev over Kamaru Usman fight
In a recent interview with ‘The Schmo,’ Belal Muhammad gave his thoughts on a potential fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman. The 34-year-old had some harsh words for the Chechen blaming him for seeking attention and not being serious about fighting Usman.
Muhammad said, “I don’t know, man. This new Twitter age is kind of annoying because Khamzat [Chimaev] is one of those guys, kind of like a [Conor] McGregor. He wants the attention, so throwing out a random tweet here and there. But nothing ever comes out of it, right?”
He continued, “And when I say that I’m like bro, that fight’s not happening because they’ll talk about it, they’ll both say something about it. Then there will be nothing else. You’ll see, Oh Khamzat’s gonna fight this guy. I’m just gonna fight that guy, so I think he’s literally all talk just to stay in the news, stay relevant.”
With a 9-fight win streak, ‘Remember The Name’ is one of the front runners in the title race. He will probably face the winner of Covington vs. Edwards for the title. However, if Chimaev vs. Usman happens at welterweight, it could make things all the more interesting.

The winner of that fight could pose a serious threat to Belal Muhammad’s title aspirations, considering Chimaev’s star power and Usman’s legacy as a champion.
What are your thoughts on Muhammad’s comments? Do you think we’ll see Usman vs. Chimaev? If it happens, who are you picking to win?
