Sean O’Malley’s stars are rapidly rising in the UFC. After his unexpected victory over longest reigning UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 earlier this month. Analysts were expecting Sterling to give the Montana native a hard time with his superior wrestling. O’Malley’s second-round TKO of ‘Funkmaster’, however, upended expectations.

‘Suga’ gave the New Yorker his props after the fight. He told interviewer Joe Rogan in the post-fight octagon interview that Sterling was the best UFC bantamweight ever. And in a recent interview, he revealed what UFC boss Dana White said to him after his big victory at UFC 292.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, O’Malley talked about being happy at having his family in the cage to celebrate the win. His mother, father, two brothers, sister, and an uncle joined O’Malley in the Octagon after his victory over Aljamain Sterling and becoming the bantamweight champion. He told the interviewer that Dana White said that he would make a lot of money in the future in the Octagon.

“To have everyone in there after the fight was, still feels kind of like a dream. Like that moment Dana wrapping that belt around, he said, ‘Kid you have no idea how much money you’re going to make,'” he told TMZ Sports.

Sean O’Malley also spoke about who his next opponent might be. The Montana native has only one loss at the hands of Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera on his record. Suga has expressed his intention to fight Vera next. But, he cautioned the Ecuadorian against making what he felt were exaggerated claims. He also considered the names of former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo, number one ranked bantamweight Merab DvalishviliAlexandre Pantoja, and Cory Sandhagen.

“Henry, I pretend like is an option, realistically it’s not. He lost his last fight. Alexandre Pantoja, the 125 lb. champ, throwing my name out there a little bit. That’s an option. Merab’s an option. I might just wait for Cory [Sandhagen] if Chito’s gonna act like he earned a title shot,” he said.

O’Malley is already being compared to UFC megastar Conor McGregor in terms of his potential and marketability. And, it seems the UFC boss feels the same. All eyes are now set on O’Malley, which also brings a lot of pressure along with it. The new champion has said that he wants to remain active, and if he can put together a good run of title defenses, he could go down in the history books as one of the greats.
