Khamzat Chimaev and Darren Till’s bromance at one point was the talk of the MMA town. Till traveled to Stockholm, Sweden to train at Allstar MMA, Chimaev’s previous training camp, and two made for some incredible footage much to fans’ delight. However, despite training with Chimaev, Darren Till went from being one of the most promising middleweights in the UFC to crashing out of the promotion at age 30. It wasn’t a story of some sort of fall from grace, it’s just that he damaged his ACL and MCL in both legs a few years ago but just kept taking fights, leading to a point where he couldn’t compete anymore. He voluntarily parted ways with the UFC last year to get the required medical attention and recover from these injuries.
While he may have become an object of ridicule for fight fans in recent days, he was a pretty good fighter, and if not for these injuries may well have been a top-ranked UFC middleweight today. However, it’s not just Till that received harsh criticism from fans, especially now since he’s not with the promotion. In his place, is Bo Nickal, a loud, brash American fighter who’s been calling out everyone, very reminiscent of the Liverpool-based fighter. Furthermore, Darren Till has joined fans in directing ridicule towards the NCAA Division-1 wrestler.
Fans will remember Nickal mocking and brushing off Till’s callout of him back in 2022, even before the three-time NCAA wrestling champ had joined the UFC. Not to mention, Nickal would blame Till’s influence on Khamzat Chimaev (who is friends with Till) for having to pull out of this year’s UFC Saudi Arabia event. After Nickal’s UFC 309 victory over Paul Craig this past weekend and the undefeated phenom being booed and met with ‘overrated’ chants from fans, Till took this opportunity to take shots at Nickal. “[This] guy has talked so much s**t. [He] s**t talked me since he came to the UFC like I haven’t fought and beat top guys in there. Be more humble ya ginger tool cos ur s**t and Khamzat would destroy you,” Till tweeted.

Nickal, of course, has been feuding with Khamzat Chimaev over the past year and even mocked ‘Borz’s wrestling ability. Lately, however, the Penn State alum has been much more humble, admitting he has a long way to go before he can compete with ‘Borz’. But Till feels the phenom needs to be even more humble, especially after his ‘abysmal winning performance’ at UFC 309. However, for now, Till will be concentrating on getting ready for his pro boxing debut next year.

Darren Till to face Tommy Fury in a pro boxing match next year
Darren Till is set to face boxer Tommy Fury in a boxing match on January 18 next year. This will be the former UFC star’s first professional boxing match, with his first foray into boxing earlier this year against Mohammad Mutie being an exhibition.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Darren Till's injuries rob us of a potential UFC legend, or was he overrated all along?
Have an interesting take?
Speaking to ‘iFL TV’ about his bout with the younger Fury, Till said, “Tommy’s a boxer. He comes from boxing royalty, so yeah. You know, he’s the A-side innit, in all of this. For me, I just want to fight too, I’m not really flustered. It could be against anyone.” While Till was able to knockout Mutie in the very first round, he is facing a much tougher opponent in Tommy Fury.

The fight will take place at an event organized by YouTuber and fellow celebrity boxer KSI’s promotion in Manchester, England. Fury, of course, is the younger brother of former boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and is coming off a win over Jake Paul in their February 2023 clash.
The former UFC star Darren Till also has aspirations of making it back to the UFC sometime in the future, and his performance against Fury may well indicate how far his health has recovered. What do you think about Darren Till’s barbs at Bo Nickal? Do you think he’ll make a successful comeback to the UFC, and perhaps face Nickal someday? Let us know in the comments below.
