A video from 2022 recently went viral on the internet in which Khamzat Chimaev and Darren Till cross paths with another renowned fighter. So who was it? Well, it’s none other than Joaquin Buckley, the welterweight who just defeated Colby Covington at UFC Tampa. In the clip, after the UFC 273 ceremonial weigh-in, Buckley rebuked the Briton and challenged him to fight in the middle of the year.

“Darren, Darren, Darren, let me get money, bro. You gotta let me get a fight, bro. It’s been a minute, man. He (Khamzat Chimaev) at 170 right now,” was what Joaquin Buckley initially told the Briton. Till was taken aback by this sudden callout and replied, “You wanna fight in July?” To Buckley’s utter delight, he suggested, “Let’s fight in July. London?” All this was under the watchful eye of Chimaev at his side. However, little did anyone see the hilarious twist that was going to take place.

When Joaquin turned and left, ‘Borz’ asked Darren, “Who is that guy?” To which, amid several laughs, Till replied that he didn’t know. As expected, Khamzat Chimaev did not remain silent and expressed his annoyance to Buckley. Immediately, he left him some warnings, making it clear that he is not for games and seeks to eliminate whoever crosses his path, whether in the cage or in the streets.

“You wanna play gangster? I’m gonna f-k you up,” the Chechen told ‘New Mansa’, expressing a clear annoyance on his face and not being happy at all with the exchange. In the distance, as he walks alongside Darren Till and they move on with their lives, ‘Borz’ further added that nobody knows Buckley, and he came for a picture only to turn it into a chance for a callout. However, it seems like the re-surfaced video has rubbed fans the wrong way as they soon began turning their backs on the UFC middleweight for the way he handled the situation.

Khamzat Chimaev suffers the wrath of the internet

As soon as the video resurfaced on the internet, fans were quick to share their reactions to it. Especially after the way Joaquin Buckley completely dominated the fight against Colby Covington that led to a doctor’s stoppage win for ‘New Mansa’. The way Buckley proved himself left fans impressed, and with this new video, it didn’t take long for them to turn their backs on Khamzat Chimaev.

Taking to the comments, fans expressed their frustration over Darren Till and Khamzat Chimaev acting cocky against the then-rising UFC star. They wrote, “Khamzat is too cringe,” and “Darren and Borz have such boosted egos; ik this was 2 years ago, but still.” Many fans were of the opinion that while back then ‘Borz’ acted like he didn’t know Joaquin Buckley, Khamzat Chimaev knows him now. In fact, fans believe ‘New Mansa’ can also defeat the Russian fight. Taking Chimaev in their crosshairs, they wrote, “Khamzat knows who Buckley is now, I bet [laughing emoji]” and “I might be prisoner of the moment, but Buckley beats Khamzat at 170.”

The ones who weren’t insulting ‘Borz’ were directly praising Joaquin Buckley instead. After all, back then, Buckley was just known for his spectacular 2020 KO, considered by many to be the best of the year and in history. Joaquin knocked out Impa Kasanganay with a roundhouse kick that no one expected, leaving him stiff and then collapsing to the canvas. So, praising the UFC fighter for standing his ground back then, fans wrote, “Buckley kinda stood on business,” “Buckley would have absolutely smoked Till,” and “Loved the confidence back then.”

Well, it surely looks like fans love the UFC #9 ranked welterweight. So it would be interesting to see if he keeps on to his winning ways to earn more fans on the way to a title shot in the future.
