Undefeated UFC welterweight contender, Ian Garry is gearing up to take on UFC welterweight veteran Geoff Neal in the upcoming UFC 298 event. Despite having a dangerous opponent in front of him in “Hands of Steel”, the young Irishman looks more interested in a different fighter.

Garry has been on an incredible run inside the UFC octagon, as he has won all 6 of his fights in the promotion. However, there is one fighter who has had just as much success, if not more under the UFC banner. UFC’s undefeated prospect, Khamzat Chimaev is one of the hottest fighters in the promotion and Ian Garry might be setting up a fight against the Chechen, seeing how he talked about him in a recent interview.

In a recent interview, leading up to UFC 298, the undefeated UFC Irishman was asked how he would fare against fellow UFC fighter, Khamzat Chimaev. Garry responded will absolute confidence, as he believed that he had the answer to beat Chimaev.

“What’s he gonna do? Take me down? Great. Bring it on. Let’s go. Bring it on. Let’s go,” said Garry, as he questioned what the undefeated Chechen could possibly do to him that he can’t.

When reminded of the size of ‘Borz’ in comparison to Garry, he shrugged it off and stated, “I’m bigger than he is. I’m 6’3, I’m longer, I’m taller I’m faster, I’m more vicious on the feet than he is great. He’s amazing at wrestling. He gets tired though. He gets tired. I don’t. And the truth is, so what if he takes me down, I’ll elbow the skull off”

Ian Garry seems confident in being able to beat Chimaev if they ever cross paths inside the UFC octagon. However, this isn’t the first bold claim he’s made this fight week.

Ian Garry stated that he wished to be the person to take the UFC back to Ireland, like the Irish Icon, Conor McGregor. But, unlike “The Notorious”, the undefeated welterweight seems to believe that he might be too big of a star for Ireland.

In an interview leading up to UFC 298, Machado stated, “I god d**n hope so man. I hope I’ve been saying it, I’ve been talking about it. I fear that I’m going to get too big, too quick and they’re never going to go back. The truth is, I go out right now and bury Geoff Neal into the ground on Saturday night. Is that already past it? Is Ian Garry too much of a star at that point to go back?”
