Ian Garry is gearing up for a pivotal showdown at UFC 310, where he will face undefeated juggernaut and former Kill Cliff teammate Shavkat Rakhmonov in what is virtually a title eliminator contest. Following this fight, Garry has set his sights on an even grander ambition: becoming a two-division champion, mirroring the achievements of his fellow Irishman, Conor McGregor. Determined to rise to the top, ‘The Future’ has his roadmap laid out.

One potential obstacle on Garry’s path to glory is the formidable Kazakh, who he may face as part of his ascent. Despite the competitive nature of their division, Garry has spoken highly of his former training partner, showing respect for the camaraderie they share. Additionally, Garry has also crafted a strategy to deal with Khamzat Chimaev, whom he views as a significant hurdle to his ‘double champ’ dreams.

The 27-year-old has already mapped out his ambitious plans for the future, and they have sparked reactions across the MMA world—including Khamzat Chimaev. Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Garry shared his vision of stardom, confessing that he’s always dreamed of seeing his face on billboards.

His roadmap to greatness includes a title fight against Rakhmonov, followed by a move to middleweight to take on Chimaev. Confident in his abilities, Garry boldly declared, “Then I go up to middleweight and fight Khamzat (Chimaev). I’ll be able to win that belt too. I’m not afraid of any man.” In a post shared by UFC Europe, Garry further took shots at the Chechen Wolf and when shown Chimaev’s picture, the Irishman stated, “Someone who, one day, I wanna take his 0 too.”

This assertion seems to have struck a nerve with Chimaev, who is currently positioning himself for a middleweight title fight. ‘Borz’ has hinted at a showdown with Dricus Du Plessis, teasing fans with a potential matchup in the U.S. by posting an image alongside Donald Trump. However, Chimaev didn’t hold back from firing a warning shot at Garry on X. He wrote, “You’re a too skinny kid. Don’t go near the Wolf’s teeth—you’ll end up headless.”

Ian Garry’s road to fighting Khamzat Chimaev

Ian Garry is gearing up for his UFC 310 showdown against Shavkat Rakhmonov. Many believe Rakhmonov will hand Garry his first loss, but the Irishman remains undeterred, continuing to evolve his fighting style to meet the challenge. A win against the Kazakh would undoubtedly be a career-defining moment for Garry, but his journey to the top doesn’t end there.

To fulfill his aspirations of becoming a two-division champion, Garry would first need to defeat the reigning welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, before potentially moving up to face Khamzat Chimaev. However, securing such a matchup would also require the approval of Dana White and the UFC brass—an obstacle in its own right.
