Khamzat Chimaev vs. Robert Whittaker is a fight that has been months in the making now and finally, it’s happening at the UFC Abu Dhabi event. ‘Borz’ has been one of the most inactive fighters on the UFC roster for now, but it’s not because he doesn’t want to fight but because of his immune system that has been betraying the fighter. After Whittaker’s victory against Ikram Aliskerov at UFC Saudi Arabia, Chiamev vowed to take revenge against the Aussie, but will he be able to stop Whittaker?
‘Borz’ has been undefeated in his MMA career, but he has yet to face someone as big as Whittaker. Chimaev’s wrestling skills are one of the best in the entire UFC, but getting past ‘The Reaper’ is not an easy task. Regardless, Whittaker, in his recent escapade, has warned Chimaev of repercussions as he talked about his game plan.

Many fighters have tried͏ their best to devise a strategy to counter͏ Kham͏zat Ch͏imaev’s dominant wrestli͏ng,͏ but none have ever succeeded in subd͏uing͏ him͏. ‘͏Borz’ ͏boasts ͏o͏ne of the b͏est résumés in the game, yet his͏ health has͏ repeatedly h͏indered͏ h͏is clim͏b͏ to th͏e t͏op͏. However, he is now jus͏t a single m͏at͏ch aw͏ay from ea͏rn͏ing a shot at the ͏18͏5-p͏ound tit͏le͏. However, standing in his way is former middleweight champ, Robert Whittaker.
With back-to-back wins against the topmen of the middleweight division, Whittaker is back at the title picture and his confidence is on a whole another level. Interestingly, while having a conversation with ‘Submission Radio’, Whittaker confessed his game plan, “High paced start and his wrestling prowess, it’s quite simple,” said Whittaker.
He added, “You know, you got to worry about how hard he’s going to push the wrestling envelope in the first few rounds. And then what I’m going to do after that, after I stop the takedowns, after I get back up or whatever, and just taking the fight to him. You know, everyone can see how this fight’s going to play out. Everyone can make a rough plan on how to approach it. So what you’re thinking is probably what I’m doing.”
The Aussie fighter is excited to face Khamzat Chimaev as he is preparing himself to derail his hype train. Besides that, Whittaker has warned Chimaev that he had more time to prepare for him than anybody else.

‘Reaper’ is locked in on Khamzat Chimaev
Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker were supposed to clash against each other at the UFC Saudi Arabia, but ‘Borz’ had to pull out because of health concerns. To fill Chimaev’s gap, Ikram Aliskerov had to step in on short notice to fight the former champ, and Whittaker finished the match in the very first round by a knockout. It must be noted that as he has no injury and is not exhausted from his last fight, Whittaker now has two camps worth of training to fight against Chimaev.
This has been highlighted by the former champion in his conversation with ‘Submission Radio,’ “This [Khamzat’s injury] has worked in my favor because, now, I’ve essentially had two camps for this guy, right? I think skill-set wise, I’m probably the best I’ve been, especially most prepared for Khamzat, theoretically speaking, as I could be right.”

He further emphasized that he is happy going back to the Middle East once again as he loves to fight in that energetic environment, “I’m in a good place, like, I like where we’re fighting. I like fighting in the Middle East, I think it’s cool there.” If Whittaker gets the victory, he will be next in the line for the middleweight title after Sean Strickland.
