UFC’s rising star, Khamzat Chimaev, had high expectations of securing the top contender spot against UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland after a victory over Kamaru Usman. Unfortunately, plans took a turn when Chimaev reportedly suffered an injury on his hand during the fight, leading to the missed title opportunity. However, there’s a twist in the tale as Chimaev now appears to be setting his sights on a championship in a different weight class.

‘The Wolf’ recently took to X to post a challenge for the newly minted UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Chimaev tagged UFC head honcho, Dana White and asserted “Let me finish him”. Chimaev’s statement confused the hell out of the community and to everyone’s surprise, Jiri Prochazka has responded to it.

Khamzat Chimaev is notoriously known for calling out every fighter in sight. Interestingly, Chimaev’s actions resonate with his popular catchphrase “Smash Everybody”. Now, The Chechen’s recent call out to ‘Poatan’ has gathered attention from the former light heavyweight champion, Jiri Prochazka.

Prochazka, in a recent statement, has asked the undefeated star to grace the light-heavyweight division. “I would like to welcome you to lhw division,” said Prochazka. As soon as the Czech made the statement, it caught on fire and fans rallied to the internet to warn ‘Borz’ about the Czech samurai.

Some of the comments are as follows:-

Khamzat wont even reply to this callout lol

Wanna see if Khamzat actually accept this fight

Jiri kills him

Today, kazmat can’t sleep today due to shiver

if he gets through him than he can get his title shot

Jiri will piece him up imo

Starting to get annoying! Bad enough he barely fights as it is

It can be understood from the reaction of the fans that they are not amused by Chimaev’s action of suddenly calling out every fighter, irrespective of weight class. They added that Chimaev should first decide on a weight class and then call fighters out. Even ‘the American Gangster,’ Chael Sonnen, was confused by Chimaev’s random call-out.

Chael Sonnen is confused by Chimaev’s challenge to Pereira

Chael Sonnen was left confused by Chimaev’s random callout. The former UFC fighter on his YouTube channel expressed his distress. “It was said that he would be fighting for a number one contender for the World Championship. He’s now earned the number one contender’s spot, and he will fight for the world championship. However, that was never addressed.” said Chael Sonnen.

He further added, “And [Khamzat] Chimaev came out through Twitter and said that he would like to finish Alex Pereira now. If that is a personal beef, I’m all for it. If that’s a competitive standpoint, I’d like to be told. If you’re a number one contender and you’re one fight away from having your dreams come true, you’d be wrong to believe that you have your choice of weight class.”

He continued, “But if that is what you believe and you have now identified that you think [Alex] Pereira is an easier fight than [Sean] Strickland, I would listen, and I’m all for it. I would still like some closure.”
