Can a fighter's walkout song truly impact their performance in the UFC arena?

Before any fighters get inside the Octagon for war, they come out to walkout music with a dramatic entry to pump up the crowd and give them a dose of his or her aura. There’s no doubt that these songs induce adrenaline in every person inside an arena, helping fighters get energized for the eventual battle. With that in mind, today we’ll be looking into the playlist of the UFC middleweight star, Khamzat Chimaev.

‘Borz’ is making his return this weekend at UFC 308 for a rescheduled bout against Robert Whittaker, and it comes another year-long layoff. Nevertheless, it’s always exciting to see Khamzat Chimaev in action, but what song will he be using in Abu Dhabi to hype up the crowd? Well, let’s have a look at that front.

What is Khamzat Chimaev’s walkout song?

While some fighters use multiple songs to walk out to the Octagon, that isn’t what Khamzat Chimaev prefers. The undefeated star has only walked out to one particular song from a singer hailing from his original nation of Russia, Timur Mutsurayev. The 48-year-old singer is a native of Grozny in Chechnya, which is also the same place where Chimaev’s gym, Akhmat Fight Club, is also located.

The song he uses is called ‘ТУ НОЧЬ КОГДА (РОЖДАЛИСЬ ВОЛКИ)’, which translates to ‘That Night When Wolves Were Born’, in English. This song is reasonably popular, as this has acquired over eight hundred thousand views on YouTube, the largest video-sharing platform available. On the other hand, the total amount of views could be larger than that since a number of users on that site have uploaded that tune on their channels.

Hence, we can assume that Khamzat Chimaev is going to rock the same song this weekend unless he has anything else in mind and we will only get to know that when the day of UFC 308 arrives. So, in the meantime, let’s check out what his opponent is cooking for his walkout as well.

Robert Whittaker has a similar preference to that of Khamzat Chimaev when it comes to his walkout song. The song he walks out to has become a kind of anthem for him, similar to WWE superstars. Wrestling fans would know how pumped they get when ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin walks out to his iconic and patented glass-shattering theme song. For Whittaker, though, he seems to love a song that was created by a legendary boxing star, Roy Jones Jr.

Yes, Roy Jones Jr., who had almost a three-decade-long career in boxing, also dipped his hands in music. He made quite a few rap songs, and the one that made Robert Whittaker a fan of the boxing icon was his song from the second album of his hip-hop group, Body Head Bangerz, named ‘Can’t be Touched’. This song echoes through every arena when ‘The Reaper’ makes his entry. So, yes, that’s probably the song that going to echo inside the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi at UFC 308.
