Chimaev is currently in UAE training for his bout against the Brazilian star Paulo Costa. On the sidelines of his training, on a rare occasion, Chimaev praised his friend Sean Strickland for his win against Israel Adesanya and snatching the belt from him.

The 29-year-old fighter is fully prepared for his bout against Paulo Costa. He has been training for weeks in his new home country, the UAE. Chimaev took some time on the sidelines of his bout to call out every fighter in his division on his YouTube channel. He added “Now it’s my time to smash that guy (Costa). Then, it doesn’t matter if it’s Izzy or Strickland or somebody else; we’re coming for them. Strickland! Coming for him. If you stay there, man, we’re coming for you too.

Chimaev went on to shower praise on his friend Strickland, stating that he is a guy who consistently works hard, remains dedicated in the gym, and actively competes, which is why he deserves the victory. He said “ He works hard and deserves it (Strickland). That guy is always in the gym. Now he’s got the belt. He has a good team and a good coach. I’ve been there, training with that guy. They deserve that belt. He’s been active and fights with everybody.”

The reason for the emigration has not been made public, However, there’s speculation that it relates to the rising religious issues in Sweden.
