The UFC became the latest on the list of high-profile companies to get their social media page hacked. On Wednesday, the Instagram page of the Dana White-led promotion caught fans by surprise when the account unexpectedly posted an announcement regarding a rumored UFC cryptocurrency. If that wasn’t enough, the post also features a complete wallet address.
The Instagram post revealed the ‘exciting’ news to fans that the promotion was introducing its own digital coin. It encouraged followers to own the legacy via a single token. It read, “UFC fans have been waiting, and the moment is here. Get ready to own the legacy. Precision. Strength. All in one coin. #UFC #UnleashTheFight.” However, the post was swiftly identified as a fraudulent one and was deleted from the platform.
A UFC spokesman told MMA Junkie that the organization did not introduce any cryptocurrency and that their account had been hacked. Along with the original post, the hackers shared an Instagram Story that linked to a website where people could allegedly purchase the fraudulent cryptocurrency. That story too has since been taken down.

Fans poke fun at the UFC’s woes, and Khamzat Chimaev
As soon as the news of UFC’s Instagram hack hit the internet, fans were quick to display their dark humor by laughing at the Dana White-led promotion’s woes. One of the recurring themes in their comments was Khamzat Chimaev, who became the talking point of the fight world after being at the center of a massive crypto scam. In 2023, Khamzat Chimaev was accused of promoting a cryptocurrency scam called Smash Token on social media.
The project was touted as his own, but the developers abandoned it after accepting investor payments. The token’s value plunged, and Chimaev deleted all promotional messages, leading to accusations from fans that he was manipulating them for profit. Later, the UFC star made it clear that he had no part in the foul play, but made a mistake partnering with something he did not completely understand, that his manager had brought in. As a result when this UFC post about a cryptocurrency hit the internet, fans commented, “Khamzat Chimaev scamming again,” “Another ‘Borz’ coin?” and “Chimaev, is that you?”

However, not everyone was poking fun at Chimaev. Many fight fans were quick to bring Dana White into the mix. Known for his clear bias towards Jon Jones, fans often joke around that Dana White might be obsessed with the UFC heavyweight champion. As a result, when the account got hacked, many fight fans suggested that the password might’ve been too easy to crack, as they wrote, “Password was: JonJonesp4p#1,” “UFC changed their password from IluvJones123,” and “DanaWedsJones is no longer the password now.”
Some fans even joked that a new series of cryptocurrencies will soon hit the internet. One stated that the extinct promotion Strikeforce would soon introduce their version of it, “Strikeforce Coin coming up next,” while another user believed that the next TUF season would be a fight between the coins themselves, “Next TUF Season, 16 lightweight coin bro/wanna-be MMA fighters.” But what do you think? How will Dana White address the situation? Let us know your predictions in the comments.
