Khamzat Chimaev who trained with the talented fighter Muhammad Mokaev recently spoke about the unfortunate thing that happened to his teammate. Mokaev was cut from the UFC after UFC 304 as soon as his flyweight title eliminator fight against Manel Kape was over. He did win the clash but lost something bigger. The bad-blooded fight between the two high-ranked UFC fighters was going to be an exciting affair following a controversial hotel feud between the duo. However, the 7-0 fighter was brutally cut from UFC as Dana White said that Mokaev contacted PFL before his UFC contract ended. Now, team Khabib has reacted to the unfortunate incident.
During a recent interview on the Hustle Vlog, Khamzat Chimaev gave his clear verdict and denied Dana White’s decision to revoke Muhammad Mokaev’s contract. He said, “It’s a pity what happened, well yes it’s a difficult situation. I think most likely over time he (Brev) is young and very technical the guy fights well and hits well. A little bit of physics for me is not enough. Apart from that, he’s a very talented guy. And right now, he could become a champion. I was sure that he’d get tired which happened.”
Chimaev was not happy with the decision that the head honcho decided to take but he knew that Mokaev had champion potential. Apparently the Dagestan-born fighter tried to use the PFL deal as leverage according to Ben Davis and this angered White.

This made him fire Mokaev but now the young star is actually doing well in another promotion. So ultimately Chimaev justified that Mokaev had champion potential but UFC cited other drawbacks to remove him from the promotion. This did not stop the young star though, and he proved Chimaev’s justification by joining Brave CF and earning three times more than when he was at UFC.
Mokaev’s manager Tim Simpson asserted that those reports were ‘completely false‘ as the combatant also made his sentiments exact. Muhammad Mokaev even came on X and said, “My dream is to become UFC Champion“; he also turned other prospects down. Unfortunately, he has been removed from UFC and became a free agent before joining Brave CF.
Muhammad Mokaev was signed by UFC when he was just 21 and he even revealed once how Chimaev was the one who motivated him to come into UFC. He said in an interview with MMA News how the 13-0-0 champ asked him to become a pro fighter under UFC. However, even if he did come into UFC, his time in UFC is over it seems. Fortunately, he is doing great after leaving UFC because the flyweight contender is currently competing at Brave Combat Federation in the same division. Mokaev also has another good update that will take away his sorrow of being axed from UFC.

Muhammad Mokaev took to his X account to share a post and tagged Brave CF. He said, “Highest-paid flyweight fighter in the world right now without holding the title.” What is interesting is that the promotion is small and is run by Bahraini royal Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. However, he is paying the fighters three times more than UFC. This is why fighters have been vocal about the payment problem for a long time. MMA Jabs reposted this post on their Instagram page, captioning it by saying that Brave CF pays 3 times more than UFC. Three times is a huge amount if we consider the million-dollar payouts.
Muhammad Mokaev was estimated to earn $38,000 irrespective of the show and win. Now, if we hold this 3 times over then the fighter is earning six figures in his new promotion. He is only 24 and the highest-paid flyweight in the world right now. But then, why did UFC take this step? There were allegations made by fellow flyweight Steve Erceg who said that the Dagestani fighter was impolite to the staff and his colleagues. He has allegedly been rude to UFC employees and teammates backstage and this led Dana White to terminate him eventually.
However, now Mokaev has found his next goal and hopefully, he can learn from his past and excel in his new promotion. What do you think about the fighter? Let us know in the comments. Meanwhile check the latest FanCast video!
