UFC recently released English MMA fighter Darren Till after eight years in the promotion. He joined the premier MMA organization back in 2015 and fought and competed in twelve bouts. Moreover, he made some good friends during his UFC journey, including Swedish fighter Khamzat Chimaev. The tales of their friendship have always been seen as an inspiration by many. In a recent interview, Chimaev talked about his relationship with Till currently and in future.

Darren Till is one of Britain’s greatest MMA exports. He has amassed a record of 18 wins and 5 losses in his MMA career so far. Ten out of those eighteen wins came by knockouts. However, he parted ways with the company last month. ‘Borz’ talked about his friend’s departure from the company in a recent interview.

Khamzat Chimaev is still friends with Darren Till after his UFC departure

‘Borz’ and ‘The Gorilla’ have been great friends for a while and even trained together when Till chose to join the Allstars Training Center in Stockholm. Khamzat Chimaev recently made an appearance on the popular MMA Hour’ show when Ariel Helwani asked him about the status of his friendship with the English fighter since he is no longer in the company. He asked, “Now that Darren Till’s no longer in the UFC, you’re not gonna be friends with them anymore, Right? I mean it’s a little bit embarrassing. I mean come on, right?”

The question cracked up Chimaev as he assured the famous combat sports journalist that he and Darrent Till were still friends regardless of where he chooses to fight. “We’re always together, big brother,” said Borz. He added, “I love that guy. I [am] happy [that] I met that guy in my life,” Chimaev said that he was happy to have Darren Till as a part of his life.

The real reason behind Till’s UFC exit

While the reason behind his departure was speculated to be a result of losing his last three fights in the UFC. However, Darren Till later revealed that he had different plans now that he is no longer in the promotion. He also ensured the fans that he ended his UFC stint by his own choice and had no grudge against Dana White‘s promotion.

Darren Till also mentioned that his UFC departure brought in many new offers from different promotions. So he is not worried about any of that. ‘The Gorilla’ will continue pursuing his fighting career. But for now, he has decided to take a step back and nurse his knee, which has been giving him some trouble.

Darren Till’s UFC exit hasn’t hampered his relationship with Khamzat Chimaev. On the other hand, ‘The Gorilla’ also revealed that he wants to fight multiple times in 2023. The 30-year-old fighter wants at least three fights this year. We will have to wait and see where Till ends up fighting.
