Not too long ago, Khamzat Chimaev dismissed Jiri Prochazka as a credible opponent for him. He revealed that he had beaten the Czech fighter many times in the past during training, to which the former champion took offense. However, UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping shut Chimaev down regarding those claims in a recent YouTube video.

Many UFC fighters have trained with each other in the past or still train to this day. Similarly, former champion Jiri Prochazka trained with Khamzat Chimaev back in the day but did not fare well against ‘Borz’. With the Emirati fighter’s revelation about what transpired during training, Michael Bisping offered him a reality check. Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

‘The Count’ mentioned how he was surprised by Khamzat Chimaev for revealing information about sparring sessions. However, what was more surprising to him was Jiri Prochazka, not denying anything that ‘Borz’ had to say. Michael Bisping said, “Khamzat, tapping and telling. Saying that he beat him [Prochazka] many, many times and it sounds like Jiri kind of alludes to that because he doesn’t deny it.”

Michael Bisping then turned his attention to the fact that Jiri Prochazka claimed he lost to Khamzat Chimaev for a reason. It was a training session where he was preparing to be a better version of himself. Apparently, Bisping agrees with that explanation.

“He [Prochazka] said, ‘You can talk about all these things because it’s preparation and it’s training’, and he’s right,” Bisping further stated. Being a former fighter himself, he understands such things can occur during training.

Michael Bisping then proceeded to explain to Khamzat Chimaev how training differs from real fighting inside the Octagon. The Hall of Famer revealed he had similar experiences when he was training as a fighter.

“There is a difference between an actual fight and there is a difference in training. I did the same thing myself,” stated Bisping. Nevertheless, he suggested one way both Jiri Prochazka and Chimaev could sort things out.

The UFC Hall of Famer argued that fighters can often find themselves on the losing end during sparring sessions. There could be a multitude of factors behind it, and Michael Bisping believes something similar might have happened with Jiri Prochazka when he sparred with Khamzat Chimaev. He said, “Who knows maybe Jiri Prochazka, when he trained with Khamzat Chimaev, was a little bit tired. Maybe he was a little bit exhausted, maybe he wasn’t feeling it… We don’t know.”

However, there is a way to settle this dispute once and for all, according to ‘The Count’. The only way to do that is for Khamzat Chimaev to fight Jiri Prochazka inside the Octagon. “Only way to settle this, guys, they fight,” Bisping added. However, it does not look like that will be happening anytime soon.

Khamzat Chimaev recently made a triumphant return to the middleweight division. Thereafter, he decided to call out Alex Pereira, but it doesn’t look like the fight will happen. Meanwhile, there is no word on what’s next for Jiri Prochazka, although he’s expressed his wish to welcome Chimaev into the light heavyweight division. But we will have to wait and see how things pan out for both fighters in the not-so-distant future.
