UFC and combat sports are not just about trash talks, and brutal fights but also about healthy competition and camaraderie. Khamzat Chimaev has been in all sorts of trouble, ranging from cage inactivity to severe illness. However, ‘Borz’ is back with a bang and is as healthy as a horse.
Even when a potential title shot is on the line as Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker fight it out at UFC 308, the Chechen wolf’s humble answer at the pre-fight presser might win you over. Interestingly, both the prospects did not show any signs of scathing insults during the pre-fight press conference. But what did ‘Borz’ actually say?

During the presser, the reporter asked ‘Borz’ about his calm demeanor and modified training regime. The media also asked about his mindset going into the fight. To everyone’s delight, Chimaev gave a humble response complimenting ‘The Reaper’. He said, “Bro does not matter which hair I have, I am going to be Khamzat; brother anyway man. I always stay the same man. Robert is the guy I looked up to him when he was champion. I first fought I went they he was a champ already in UFC he is a legend. I am happy to fight with this guy and so much motivated for that you know.”
He further praised the entire panel consisting of the card headliners, Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria. ‘Borz’ went on to compliment Holloway for his BMF championship belt and chimed in some positive statements for ‘El Matador’ as well. He said, “Ilia Topuria, he did work with me. He is the champ right now and I wanna be the champ as well.” The Dagestani showed proper sportsmanship by respecting and praising all three fighters sitting there by pointing out their achievements. He even got a much-deserved applause from the media and the three UFC stars.
However, there was a little calm and demure wordplay between Whittaker and Chimaev that the media got to see. Chimaev is back from his altered and better training regime and plans to shut down ‘The Reaper’ in their upcoming clash.

Robert Whittaker has always been ready for a fight! His career is adorned with facing monsters such as Yoel Romero, Israel Adesanya, and Dricus Du Plessis. And if there is one thing we know about ‘The Reaper’, then it is his superior gas tank. The Aussie trailblazer reiterated this in the press conference and said that he was ready to fight for the full 25 minutes. However ‘Borz’ was not sure about that and opened up about his intentions in the pre-fight presser.
He stated, “I don’t think so. We don’t need 25. I’m here to finish somebody; I’m here to fight, man. So maybe come here and jump around like King Gurman—I don’t know. I am here for a fight, and I fight from the first to the last round, trying to finish the game as I am doing.”

This is evident from Chimaev’s record as well where he has never fought beyond 3 rounds and adapts an explosive style in the opening sequence of his fights. However, his gas tank has always been an issue. Even though he holds victories against names like Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns, signs of slowing down and fatigue were visible in both these outings. We have to see if he has improved on this aspect or not as Whittaker is a seasoned five-round fighter.
Whittaker has amazing striking prowess and likes to lead the fight to areas that give him an advantage. The first Aussie to win a UFC championship also has swift footwork but Chimaev has his unrelenting grappling skills and his superior pace in the opening rounds. Who do you think can win this time?
