When Conor McGregor left the T-Mobile Arena on July 21, 2021, after suffering a horrendous leg injury, nobody knew when the UFC star will again grace the Octagon. Since that eventful UFC 264 night, more than a year has elapsed. While fans and fighters alike make speculations about the Irishman’s comeback fight, the recognized MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz disclosed his plans for the Dublin-born fighter.

In an interview with The Schmo, the 44-year-old manager opened up about upcoming exciting fights like Aljamain Sterling vs Henry Cejudo. Likewise, after discussing the probability of Beneil Dariush facing Charles Oliveira, Abdelaziz shared his opinion about Justin Gaethje’s potential fight coming ahead.

On being inquired about ‘The Highlight’ returning in 2023, the founder and President of Dominance MMA had a particular name in his mind. Further, the Cairo-born manager expressed his opinion of the fight.

Thus, he said, “I would like to see uh Justin Gaethje, uh destroy uh Conor McGregor and uh put him an old chair. I would love to do see that.”
Subsequently, the reporter enquired whether the fight would take place at 170 lbs, given McGregor’s recently achieved shredded physique. However, the noted manager dismissed the factor of the weight class having an impact on the result.
Later on, he added, “He can take all the steroids you want. He can take all the juice, EPO everything. We see, Mike, you know, whatever he wants to think he can take. I would like to see this fight, but we know he doesn’t like top fights anymore. He want easy fights.”

Therefore, Abdelaziz claimed that ‘Notorious’ and Gaethje‘s fight won’t materialize.
Justin Gaethje’s next opponent
Talking in the same section, the MMA fighter-turned-manager put the onus of determining his client’s next client on one person. Further, referring to the UFC office hierarchy, he mentioned Sean Shelby.

Notably, Sean Shelby is the senior VP of Talent Relations in the UFC. Besides, he also works as a matchmaker for promotion.
Afterward, Abdelaziz admitted Shelby would decide who the #3 ranked lightweight fighter will end up facing in the Octagon.
