Jose Aldo is unquestionably a legend in the world of mixed martial arts. Throughout his seventeen-year career, Aldo has given fans some of the most memorable contests. During his prime, the fighter was one of the best in the world. Aldo has accomplished a great deal in his fighting career, and he was also crowned Sherdog’s Fighter of the Year, in 2009.

As of November 2021, Jose Aldo is ranked fifth in the UFC men’s bantamweight division. However, ‘Junior’ didn’t start his career as a bantamweight fighter. He once reigned the featherweight division and spent almost fifteen years in the 145 lbs weight class. Aldo made his bantamweight debut when he faced Marlon Moraes at UFC 245 on 14 December 2019.

Aldo has found some recent success after having a rocky phase in the middle. The fighter lost three bouts consecutively but later bounced back with two wins in a row. Fans claimed to have seen glimpses of his old self in his last two wins. Many believe he is going to peak again, judging from his recent form. However, the former UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, doesn’t feel that way.

In an interview, Khabib claimed Aldo isn’t really peaking again. He said, “A guy wins one fight and everyone starts talking. “Fighting top fighters shows your worth… Let him fight Petr (Yan) the same way then we can say he’s peaking again.”

But according to a report from Sherdog, Jose Aldo’s coach Andre Pederneiras said, “I received a call from Rony, who works with Ali Abdelaziz. They were having lunch and Ali asked to talk to me.”

“He said Khabib told him he never said bad things about Aldo. According to him, it was just a bad translation done to create conflict. Ali guaranteed me that Khabib respects Aldo a lot and would never say bad things about him in any interviews.”

His trainer and coach Andre Pederneiras claimed, “Aldo is much more adapted in that division now…Font deserves all respect. He has two strong points: a dangerous jab and straight. But I see Aldo with many more weapons to finish the fight before the fifth round.”
