Charles Oliveira made headlines before he even got inside the Octagon at UFC 274. The lightweight champion lost his title on the scales as he couldn’t make the stipulated weight – 155 lbs. Thus, only Justin Gaethje was eligible to walk out of Phoenix, Arizona as the lightweight champion.

However, UFC 274 saw ‘Do Bronx’ prove he is still the head of the division, as he prevented Gaethje from achieving his ultimate goal.

In the UFC 274 main event, Charles Oliveira extended his win streak to 11; Gaethje faced another loss in an undisputed championship bout.

Even though Oliveira received boos from fans as he made his way to the Octagon, his performance had them on the edge of their seats. Though he lost his title, ‘Do Bronx’ fought like a champion and extended his streak to 11. With another win, he will tie Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson’s record of 12.

What’s next for Charles Oliveira?

It was unfortunate that Oliveira lost his world championship on the scales, as he had earned it after a decade-long rollercoaster of a career. However, he still showed his skill set will be tough for anyone to match in the lightweight division.

After the fight, ‘Do Bronx’ said, “I’m the problem for the entire division… This is my title” (via a translator). He made it clear he’s not going anywhere and then challenged Conor McGregor.

“Hey Dana White, I don’t care, put anybody in front of me, I don’t choose. Hey Conor McGregor, are you stepping up or running away?”

Will he get the Conor McGregor fight? Only the time will tell. If he gets to fight ‘The Notorious’ and beats him, he will tie ‘The Eagle’ and have wins over McGregor, ‘The Diamond’, and ‘The Highlight’.
