There is a lot of emphasis on respect and loyalty for Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team. ‘The Eagle’ has continued to keep ties with his old teammates, even though he doesn’t meet them as often as he did in the past. One of those former teammates is lightweight veteran Josh Thomson, who recently revealed a heartwarming story about a request he made to Khabib.

Being big on respect is one of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s essential qualities. That is something that keeps AKA head coach Javier Mendez praising ‘The Eagle’ for. Recently, his kind heart was on full display when Josh Thomson, a couple of weeks ago, asked the Dagestan native for a favor. With the Dagestan native being a global MMA icon and all that, his former teammate wanted Khabib to meet a child battling cancer. The former fighter was acquainted with the child that was apparently a pretty big fan of the 29-0 UFC Hall of Famer.

“Two weeks ago when I was in California, I called up Khabib and said ‘Hey I have a friend who is very sick and lives in Las Vegas I’d like if you would meet him’.”, Josh Thomson stated on the Weighing In podcast. “He has cancer and his kids are young. He’s a fan and if you get a chance, could you come by?'” As expected, Khabib Nurmagomedov just doesn’t have the word ‘no’ in his vocabulary.

The former UFC lightweight champion, according to Josh Thomson, would straight away hop into a car when they met up, asking him to lead the way. ‘The Eagle’ wouldn’t just fulfill the kid’s dream, but would also garner a lot of respect from Thomson in the process. “He’s like we will jump in the car and go wherever you want me to go. Didn’t even hesitate. That’s what a friend does. That meant a lot to me,” the Weighing In host added. This act from Khabib certainly went under the radar since this is not the first time ‘The Eagle’ has done something like this for a child battling cancer.

However, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s loyalty goes both ways as it was recently made clear. ‘The Eagle’ would once sound off on his longtime friend Daniel Cormier for the latter’s endorsement of Conor McGregor.

There are endless clips of Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov joking around with each other on social media. But did you know that things got really serious once when the Dagestan native expressed an issue with ‘DC’ for being a bit too ‘chummy’ with his arch-rival Conor McGregor? Having known and supported each other for years, Khabib expected his former teammate to understand the conflict he had with the Irishman, and prefer to stay away from his vicinity.

“I saw Conor McGregor in Abu Dhabi… We were shaking hands, and we were talking a bit and were very kind of chummy. And Khabib was like, ‘Brother, I don’t understand this,'”, Daniel Cormier revealed not too long ago. “I initially kind of fought it, but people close to me said, ‘He’s right. Look at the stance he’s taken in regards to everyone you deal with. Why in the world would you not take that same stance?'”
