Retired UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov left the sport with an undefeated record. His rivalry with Conor McGregor was one of the biggest aspects of his career. In a new interview, the Russian looked back at his feud with McGregor.

Additionally, he also spoke about the hardships he faced in his childhood. He said, “I’m from very poor life. You know, I’m, from very poor life. I remember like, 23 years ago, how my father sell his house and he bring me, all my brothers. We move to capital city because village is not too much of opportunity.”

“We move to capital city and we all living together in one house. And stay there, eat, training, sleep, repeat. Go to the school, someone go college, university. It was like our life, you know. I’m very happy, you know. … Now I realize how father, how his vision was very far because he invest people, he invested with me, my brothers, those people.”

“He invest like thousands and thousands of kids in Dagestan… I’m very happy to be here,” added The Eagle.

Nurmagomedov happens to be the first inductee in the Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Thus, he was at the ceremony when he looked back at his career and spoke about the challenges he faced in his life.

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier’s friendship

Apart from Nurmagomedov, Daniel Cormier too is a part of the UFC Hall of Fame. Both share a great friendship and were teammates at AKA.

Similarly, both the fighters have had huge rivalries in the UFC. Nurmagomedov’s rivalry with McGregor and Cormier’s feud with Jon Jones were some of the most talked-about rivalries in the history of the UFC.

While The Eagle and DC have retired and contribute to the sport in several other ways, their rivals are still in the game. McGregor is looking for a comeback sometime soon. Jon Jones is preparing to dominate the heavyweight division after giving up the light heavyweight title.

Thus, it would be interesting to see if Nurmagomedov and Cormier ever cross paths with their bitter rivals. What do you think?
