Belal Muhammad last won against Gilbert Burns in UFC  288. Now, ‘Remember The Name’ has the attention of Dana White for a welterweight title which is currently held by Leon Edwards. Their bout is scheduled for UFC 304 in Manchester, so, Muhammad is training hard. And he is doing it with none other than the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Dagestani’s team members are known to be dedicated and disciplined when it comes to training and Muhammad saw it firsthand. He was shocked to see that the dedication was not only for MMA but also for football as well!  However, he got to know of the zeal through a scary experience! So let’s see what happened.

For the recent training, ‘Remember The Name’ has been working alongside Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, and his team. He was privileged enough to even play football with them. The fighters are training for UFC 302 and UFC 304 but they loosen up with other sports every now and then.  Hence, he is not only gaining valuable experience from being a part of one of the best camps but also learning what makes Nurmagomedov furious. 

The Dagestani never slacks off in training, not even in his pastime. On a recent episode of the Money Loyalty Legacy podcast, Muhammad explained his relationship with Khabib. He could understand his zeal when it came to MMA, but he, too, was left stunned when it came to other sports.  The welterweight contender told a funny story about the first time he was asked to participate in a not-so-casual game of soccer among teammates and friends. He also noted that the team often plays football; they offered him to join the game once, but he said that he did not like the sport that much. 

“I ended up in Khabib’s team and we conceded three goals in the first half. Khabib yelled at me: “What the f**k are you doing?” I lost the ball and he was furious. In the second half, Khabib entered the field and scored five goals. He is a real killer. After that, I was no longer invited to play football with them,” Belal explained, highlighting Khabib’s anger while he unwillingly joined the game. Evidently, Khabib does not come to play even when he is playing a sport for fun. However, the two fighters share a good relationship since they are training together and are under the same management. Furthermore, Muhammad explained that even though Khabib and his comrades can be harsh sometimes, their hospitality is top-notch.

Ahead of the fight with Leon Edwards, he spoke with the hosts of Money Loyalty Legacy and narrated a tale of how he was treated very well by the Nurmagomedovs. He even shared feeling flabbergasted by the treatment! Muhammad explained how after his bout with Gilbert Burns, he was invited by ‘The Eagle’ to train with Abubakar Nurmagomedov.

After the training was over, the Hall of Famer invited him again to train in Abu Dhabi which he had declined, but later decided to go for. According to the fighter, Nurmagomedov had prepared everything, from his hotel room to his groceries. He was very thankful as he recalled them saying that they were going to make sure he was alright and would get anything he needed. Belal also added, “Then he bought me like $600 worth of shoes from Hermes.”
