Many regard Khabib Nurmagomedov as one of the greatest lightweights ever to grace the octagon. Before retiring, the Dagestani fighter scored a total of 29 wins, with no losses in his entire pro-MMA career. Besides his undefeated record, he was the longest-reigning UFC lightweight champion.
Khabib’s reign over the lightweight division spanned from April 2018 to March 2021. In his UFC career, he defeated UFC legends like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Rafael dos Anjos and many more. ‘The Eagle’ announced his retirement after defeating Justin Gaethje with a clean triangle choke in the second round.
Currently, Charles Oliveira rules the lightweight division. He recently defeated Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 with a standing rare-naked-choke. Consequently, ‘do Bronx’ holds the record for most wins by submission. As Khabib and Oliveira are both great at what they do, the MMA community started to compare Charles’s skills to Khabib’s.
