Kevin Holland spoke to Ariel Helwani and previewed his upcoming match-up that will see his fifth Octagon appearance of 2020. ‘The Trailblazer’ has had an incredible calendar year, having accrued four wins. He’s taken a short-notice fight against Jack Hermansson on December 5, 2020, after Darren Till suffered an injury.
The bout against Jack ‘The Joker’ is a huge opportunity for Holland to immediately break into the top five of the division. Moreover, he would also then be in the running for 2020s Fighter of the Year. It’s clear that Kevin Holland has lofty aspirations in mind, and he could soon be in line for contention.

‘The Trailblazer’ recently called out the champion Israel Adesanya who was sitting cage side for UFC Vegas 12. Holland fought Charlie Ontiveros on the card and won the fight after viciously slamming the newcomer to the canvas. Kevin Holland immediately turned his attention to Adesanya and wanted to scrap with ‘The Last Stylebender’.
Although a title shot is not in his immediate future, Holland certainly has the right idea in mind. He’s turned his sights to another match-up that may be on the cards for him.
“I walk around at 196-pounds, you know. I have leverage, I’m tall, I’m long so I can fight at 85, no problem. But if they had a 75 weight class, I’d be there. They do have two belts at 170-pounds and I think one belt doesn’t belong at welterweight, you know what I mean? I think you know what I mean.”

“Maybe I go out and slap somebody after the fight. Let everybody know I’m really a bad motherfu*er and that I can get a bad motherfu**er fight. That’s what I’m shooting for, fu* all the other sh*t. I’m gonna put in work to get the baddest motherfu**er title while Izzy is up a weight class doing his thing, Imma go down south a little bit, grab some strap and come back up to 85 and fight for the real belt. I don’t wanna fight for no interim belt.”
Fighting Jorge Masvidal at 170-pounds would certainly be the fight that would propel Holland into the stratosphere. ‘Gamebred’ is one of the biggest stars in the sport, period. Holland’s next fight could go a long way in convincing the UFC to book ‘Trail Blazer’ against ‘Gamebred’.
