One of Israel Adesanya’s most exciting and memorable fights has been against Middleweight legend, Kelvin Gastelum. The two faced off at UFC 236, back in 2019. The fight was not technical. The two fighters turned it into a war that lasted for 25 minutes. In the end, Adesanya walked away with the win and the Interim Middleweight championsion title, after outpointing Gastelum.

Recently, the two fighters met for the UFC 293 press conference. As usual, words were exchanged. Strickland being the outspoken and flamboyant fighter made tall claims about bringing the Middleweight title home. He also said something along the lines of ‘restoring’ the division to its former glory. Then, an interviewer asked Adesanya what he thought of Strickland saying that he would brawl with Adesnaya like Kelvin Gastelum did.

Yeah! I think he has the ability. But he doesn’t have the chin. Kelvin’s a Mexican so… they’re built different. But when you talk about,” said Adesanya, modestly agreeing to some of the claims that Strickland made. He then took a long pause before he swallowed his words and concluded saying, “You know what? I’ll leave it at that. I don’t think he has the chin. He just has the gas tank maybe.”
