Fighting is a profession that commands a lot of respect. But, unfortunately, not a lot of money, unless one is at the top. This is a shame since fighters put their body, mental, and physical health on the line for fans’ entertainment. This is why promotions such as the UFC have been criticized for not providing its fighters with health insurance. And, some fighters have to turn to unorthodox sources of funding to fund their treatment.

Glory FC kickboxer Robbie Hageman has been forced to do just that in order to continue living. Fortunately, he received support from his former training partner – Conor McGregor, not in terms of money, but in another surprising way.

Robbie Hageman posted a video update on his Instagram account in his native Dutch. He has been suffering from a brain tumor. His family wrote a caption and revealed that UFC megastar Conor McGregor had offered his former training partner to ask him anything. But, Hagerman was too proud to ask for money from the Irishman. Instead, he asked the former two-division UFC title holder to share the link to his GoFundMe page where he was soliciting donations for his treatment.

“Dear followers,

A video update today from Robbie himself. As many of you know, McGregor said in a video message to Robbie, ‘ask me anything’. Robbie would never ask for money. Not when someone is more wealthier than most in the world. You can see what Robbie asked for on the print screen on the next slide.

We can’t say it often enough, but thanks again for all the prayers, sharing the drive and still donations.

Love,
Familie Hageman,” his family wrote as the caption. McGregor took to the comments section of the post to inform the family and Hagerman that he had shared the link. “Done. God bless,” he wrote.

After McGregor shared the link, many users apparently contributed to ‘The Rabbit’s fund. It has raised 200,000 Euros out of the targeted 475,000 Euros. Suffering from a brain tumor, the Dutchman went through surgery in January of this year. However, he unfortunately lost part of his vision in both his eyes after the procedure.

And in an effort to prolong his life, the former Glory fighter is undergoing an alternative treatment. In an update on the GoFundMe page on October 1, his wife revealed that his pills were running out. However, ‘The Rabbit’ said in the video that the tickets and the hotel in the US had been booked. He added that he would be going there again for further treatment. Please consider donating for his treatment if you can through this link. And we wish the valiant fighter a speedy recovery!
