Kay Hansen was last seen at UFC 270. The fighter faced Jasmine Jasudavicius but unfortunately, lost via unanimous decision. Now at UFC 273, she is set to face Piera Rodriguez. The event takes place in April and will be Hansen’s second bout this year.

She had returned to the octagon at UFC 270 after 14 months. While she lost the bout, it looks like she is ready to take on yet another opponent. As Hansen has had two back-to-back losses, the upcoming bout will be very important for her UFC career.

Further, it seems like this bout will take place at strawweight. It would be interesting to see if this has a positive effect on her performance.

Carlos Contreras Legaspi from ESPN first shared the news of this bout on Twitter. Later on, journalist Marcel Dorff shared it as well. He wrote, “Piera Rodriguez (@RgPiera) will fight Kay Hansen (@KayHansenMMA) at #UFC273 on April 9th. (first rep. @CCLegaspi)”.

This matchup seems quite interesting. This is mainly because Rodriguez has never lost a single professional bout. Further, she has the ability to knock out her opponents. Out of her seven fights, she has won five through TKO or KO.

Hansen, on the other hand, holds a 7-5-0 professional record. While both of them started their professional MMA careers in 2017, Hansen has been in the ring more than Rodriguez. So being a slightly more experienced fighter could give her an edge. However, ‘La Fiera’ is definitely going to be a very tough opponent for her.

Moreover, it would be interesting to see if fighting at the strawweight division can give her any weight advantage.

Apart from Kay Hansen clashing with Piera Rodriguez, there are some extremely interesting fights booked for the event. A featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Chan Sung Jung will be intriguing to watch.

Further, the bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan will be eye-catching as well. Both the fighters have been going back-and-forth for a while. So them getting even in the ring would be fun to watch.
