There are many fighters on the UFC roster who do not have a nickname. But not everybody is as lucky as Karolina Kowalkiewicz who had one bestowed upon her. The 38-year-old had an interview before the fight against Michelle Waterson-Gomez back in 2019 when she revealed that someone had dubbed her ‘The Polish Princess.’ Kowalkiewicz also claimed that she had nothing to do with it, but maybe someone in the UFC decided to call her by that moniker.

“I don’t know why [someone gave me that nickname], but it’ is very nice. It’s not my idea. I think [it’s the] UFC,” said ‘The Polish Princess’. When asked whether she liked the moniker or not, she was all positive about it because it represented her well. “Yes, [I like it] very much. I am from Poland. I am very proud because I’m Polish and every girl wants to be a princess,” Kowalkiewicz added. It may be nice to be called a princess and garner so much love since MMA is an unforgiving sport. But despite the nature of MMA, the 38-year-old considers the Octagon a safe place.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani back in 2017, Karolina Kowalkiewicz addressed the calm and positive demeanor she showcases whenever she walks out to fight. She claimed that it was something natural, and she did not know why she had that kind of attitude. The Polish star believes that there is no safer place for her than the eight-sided UFC cage, where all the action takes place.

“For me, Octagon, this is the safest place in the world. I feel very good when I’m there and I’m very focused and I’m very happy because I do what I love,” said Kowalkiewicz. This may not be too far from the truth, since ‘The Polish Princess’ has established herself in MMA with a respectable record.
With just days left for the event, it will be interesting to see if Karolina Kowalkiewicz can continue her winning ways and live up to ‘The Polish Princess’ moniker. She is currently on a 4-fight winning streak and doesn’t seem too far away from title contention. Will she be able to get past the much younger Iasmin Lucindo?
