Ali Abdelaziz, for many, could be a controversial figure. However, there’s no denying the commitment he has toward the fighters he manages and promotes. The 45-year-old manages top-ranked MMA fighters in various organizations and also has former Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman as one of his clients. With momentum growing around the news that Usman’s fight with current champ Leon Edwards might be jeopardized owing to the Nigerian’s hand injury, Abdelaziz took no time in denying the said rumors.

In a tweet, the former MMA fighter confirmed that Usman vs Edwards would still be going ahead as planned initially, and claimed that the belt would be back where it rightly belongs. The rumors first started circulating when ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ was spotted wearing a brace on his hand.

“Please enough with the rumors, Kamaru is fighting León next, he is good to go. We bringing this belt back to where it belongs.” tweeted Abdelaziz, silencing the rumors that were rife on social media.

With confirmation coming from the manager, the chances of the fight between Usman and Edwards going through look pretty good. Usman will be itching to run back the bout; given that he was dominating Edwards right up to the last couple of minutes. The following KO eventually led to one of the most iconic moments in MMA history as Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards claimed the welterweight title shocking the world.

Considering that Abdelaziz’s statement regarding Usman’s injury is true. The UFC can finally book the trilogy fight at UFC 286; as planned earlier. The event will see the promotion head to the UK for arguably the biggest event in the region after Michael Bisping vs Dan Henderson in 2016.

UFC President Dana White has repeatedly expressed his love for the British MMA fans and the card for UFC 286 might just be the best one yet so far. Ali Abdelaziz’s tweet seemed to have set the rumors to rest, for now at least. Although there has been no confirmation from Usman or the UFC; fans would like to believe that the fight still goes ahead as planned.
