Everybody knows ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Kamaru Usman but what about his brothers? Kamaru Usman is a force to be reckoned with in the UFC promotion. He has left his mark on the welterweight division and not only did he win the TUF 21 welterweight fighter tournament but also had an amazing title run in the promotion. He won divisional gold at UFC 235 and defended his title five times. As of 2024, the UFC juggernaut is at the number one rank in the welterweight division.
We might know a lot about Kamaru Usman but he also has brothers who are achieving their own goals. His eldest brother is a doctor so Kamaru Usman sure knows who to approach when he and his brother Mohammed are punched black and blue from a fight! Kashetu Usman was born in 1984 in Benin City Nigeria. The elder brother was close to his mother and their mother played a huge role in his life. Kamarudeen Usman was born on 11th of May 1987 to Mohammed Nasiru Usman and Afishetu P. Usman. Official records reveal that Kamaru Usman’s father was in the Nigerian army while his mother was a teacher and his father dreamt of becoming a boxer. The UFC star grew up with two brothers named Kashetu and Mohammed.
Both are equally accomplished like their brother. Kashetu Usman is a Doctor of Pharmacy and the latter is a mixed martial artist and boxer in a different division. The eldest Usman might have got this knack for being a doctor from his dad who was also a pharmacist and ran two businesses named, Royal Ambulance Service, Inc. and First Choice EMS, Inc.
Usman likes to keep his life private and generally, he stays out of the spotlight even though he goes to support his brothers in their fight. While his brothers take on the brunt and fight inside the octagon, he is the healer of the family and is a successful pharmacist with a license in Texas. He does have an Instagram account but it is private and he is selective about sharing things about his life on social media.
The whole Usman family had moved to Texas in 1994 when he was ten years old and while his brothers were busy in the combat sports world, he took up a more academic career. He graduated from Chicago State University with a degree in pharmacy in 2014 and also has a bachelor of science in biology from Chicago State University. Dr. Usman is married and his wife’s name is Jasica, who he met in Dallas in 2017 and they welcomed a baby in 2023. Jasica is a beautician and owns Lavish Locs Hair Company.
He started his career by working at Target as an executive pharmacy intern after completing college and then joined the Quality Assurance team at Hillshire Brands. The brothers were born into a family of six people and they also have a sister, however, very little is known about their her. On the other hand, his two younger brothers are both big names in the MMA world.

The three brothers grew up together with their sister. Their dad was in the Nigerian army and after discharge, he became a pharmacist. Even though the family was well-knit and strong, their father got into trouble in 2010 when he was charged with 14 counts of superseding indictment charges. This included supposed healthcare scams and money laundering. He had to serve his time in prison and was released in 2021. While he was in jail, he made many friends. They all would even cheer for the younger siblings who became fighters in the UFC.
The youngest brother in the family is Mohammed Usman who was born on 1st April 1989. The 35-year-old also has a record of 3-2 in the UFC. The youngest in the family is called ‘The Motor’ in the fight world and competes in the heavyweight category. He has fought across multiple promotions including the reputed PFL’ before his UFC debut.
He has a loving relationship with his elder brother Kamaru Usman who is a welterweight star in the USA. He also apparently loves comparisons with his brother and once answered a question about the same. ‘The Motor’ stated, “I love it. He’s a Usman. It’s our last name. I’m here because of my brother for the aspect he started fighting before me.” ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ comes next on the list and his fame is truly something to be reckoned with.

However, for Mohammed, since both his brothers are extremely talented and Kamaru Usman is in the same field that he is in it was not an easy journey for the younger one. He stated how he had to put in more than 100 percent work to achieve the position in UFC. Now we come to Kamaru Usman. The 20-4-0 fighter might have lost the last three bouts but he still remains at the top of the pecking order at welterweight.
