Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman just ended his beef with Colby Covington. After Kamaru Usman had a successful run in the welterweight division from 2019 to 2022 the division saw his loss to Leon Edwards two years ago at UFC 276. He is nonetheless considered to be the GOAT by many including Dana White. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ won against many fighters including Colby Covington and the trash talk led them to have a beef. They even quarreled the morning after Usman won.
However, the beef at UFC 245 is being buried by Usman as he recently praised his opponent! He had a lot to say about their fight chemistry so let’s take a look.

Colby Covington considers himself as the greatest
During an interview with the Rush podcast, ‘Chaos’ revealed, “I do think I’m one of the greatest of all time.” Even though he lost both fights against Usman the interim champion still thinks that he is the best fighter. Even though he trusted UFC to form the matchups he said, “Maybe this kid [Belal] Muhammad. He’s up there in the rankings above me, so if I beat that guy, it gets me right back to the title fight.”

He also explained that he was ready to fight any opponent that he was given at any time and venue. This is when he explained that he was one of the greatest fighters in UFC and went toe to toe with Kamaru Usman who the UFC CEO thinks to be the best. “I think I beat him,” Colby Covington added. He had contested his opponent’s win during the first fight and revealed that the referees might have been biased. “He was going down, he was going to be TKOed. I was going to win the fight, and then they stopped it. It wasn’t a fair fight. I was fighting two on one that night,” he added. He expressed that he felt like he was not only fighting his opponent but also fighting against the referee in UFC 245.
For UFC 268, he blamed the judges for scoring him less in the last round for which he lost to Usman. He explained that he had beat Usman three rounds to two and the judges had scored him higher for the first two rounds. The final round saw two judges giving more scores to ‘Chaos’ which ultimately made him win. Interestingly, even Usman has complimented his opponent recently so do you think Covington is right in saying that he won?
