Justin Gaethje is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC. He is guaranteed to deliver an entertaining bout whenever he graces the octagon. ‘The Highlight’ recently came off a huge win after dominating Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286 and putting an end to his six-fight winning streak. He recently appeared in an interview with ‘TSN’ as he talked about his ideal next opponent, Dustin Poirier.

Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje had one of the best UFC fights in 2018. The former prevailed over ‘The Highlight’ via a knockout in the fourth round. Now Justin Gaethje is aiming to get back at ‘The Diamond’.

During the interview, the 34-year-old fighter was asked when he’d like to come back to fight. He said, “They’re gonna fight for the title. You know, Islam’s [Makhachev] gonna fight the winner of [Charles] Oliveira and [Beneil] Dariush, let’s say in October. So, you know, August, September, October sounds ideal.” He added, “To fight [Dustin] Poirier, ideally.”

Gaethje was asked if he wanted to fight Poirier when the UFC comes to Canada in June this year, considering his recovery time from the last fight. But he mentioned that he needed to know that the UFC will let him fight in June.

Gaethje said, “That’s doable [fighting Poirier in Canada], but I need to know that immediately.” He added, “I don’t think I’m gonna get word on that anytime soon. So I think after that is ideal.”

‘The Highlight’ claims to have an incomprehensible fighting style

In the same interview, Justin Gaethje talked about his fighting style being unpredictable after assessing his fight against Rafael Fiziev. He said, “I think my style of fighting is hard to comprehend honestly. I think I fought a perfect fight. You know, I was constantly creating angles, leaving the clinch, getting under his [Fiziev’s] hook, rolling his hooks phenomenally. I think I fought a perfect fight, and I think I won all three rounds. “

Justin Gaethje believes that he could also fight the loser of the Beneil Dariush vs Charles Oliveira fight. But if that doesn’t happen, he would happily accept to fight Dustin Poirier, which he thinks makes the most sense.
