After conquering MMA, Dana White has his sights set on the grappling world. With that, the UFC CEO signed multiple-time BJJ world champion Mikey Musumeci. The 28-year-old recently appeared in a press conference where he vowed to clean up the grappling scene from performance enhancing-drug (PED) users. However, fellow grappler Gordon Ryan did not seem too impressed with Musumeci’s statements.

In the past, Mikey Musumeci accused Gordon Ryan of taking steroids, claiming that he looks older than he really is. The former ADCC champion, of course, wasn’t pleased, and after listening to Musumeci’s comments about cleaning up the sport, Ryan hit back at him for his sanctimonious nature, while claiming that the 28-year-old is a ‘fake’ individual.

“All of these guys [who are] standing on moral high grounds in this sport are just the fakest people on the planet,” Gordon Ryan told the media after the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9 grappling event. He further dug into Mike Musumeci’s tendencies to change BJJ teams and questioned his loyalty to his current team.

“This is the guy [Musumeci] who’s attacking my morals and saying, you know, ‘He’s a cheater’, this and that, this guy has been on thirty-seven different jiu-jitsu teams,” Gordon Ryan added. “He just takes what he wants from a team and when he has all the knowledge he can get, he just leaves and goes to a different team. It’s like, just shut up, dude.”

Gordon Ryan was present to witness Mike Musumeci’s UFC grappling debut and made some bold claims about him as a grappler. In fact, the former multiple-time ADCC champion didn’t seem too impressed with his fellow grappling star’s performance.

Gordon Ryan claims Mike Musumeci is not ‘as good as’ fans believe

What’s your perspective on:

Is Mikey Musumeci's moral crusade genuine, or is Gordon Ryan right about his 'fake' persona?

Have an interesting take?

Mike Musumeci found victory in his debut at the Dana White-led promotion’s Fight Pass Invitational, as he edged past Felipe Machado with a 2-0 win in overtime on points. Interstingly, Gordon Ryan was there to take on the commentary role, and called Musumeci’s fight. Having had the best seat in the house to watch the main event, ‘The King’ concluded that people were over-hyping the former ONE champion, insinuating that he’s not on his level.

“PSA – The fact I was able to call little Mike’s f–k ups like 5 seconds before they happened just goes to show you that he was never as good as you guys thought. Sucks to suck,” Gordon Ryan wrote on Instagram. Meanwhile, he also recently opened up on the beginning of his beef with Mikey Musumeci and mentioned that he had never tried to speak of his rival in a bad way, but the accusations of steroid use seemed to be Ryan’s breaking point.

“Mikey just attacked me. All I’ve ever done is talk highly of Mikey. The thing about Mikey, is he’s been doing passive-aggressive shots at me forever… He’ll make one post that’s like, ‘If you take steroids you’re mentally weak. You’re too weak. You need a crutch. You need an out. Blah, blah, blah”, Gordon Ryan told former UFC fighter Jake Shields on the latter’s YouTube channel.

Things aren’t getting any better between Ryan and Mike Musumeci and we have to wait and see if they settle their differences in the future. Let us know your thoughts on ‘The King’s response to Mike Musumeci.
