Max Holloway is coming off an impressive performance at UFC Vegas 42. He took on the ever-dangerous Yair Rodriguez in the main event, and the fight did not disappoint. Right from the start, both men went after each other. It was an all-out war, in which Max Holloway prevailed as the winner. ‘Blessed’ won the fight via a unanimous decision.

Holloway is the number 1 ranked UFC featherweight, and for many, he was already a contender for the belt. However, after having fought a game ‘El Pantera’ and winning in such a way, there is no doubt he should fight for the title.

The champion, Alexander Volkanovski, recently beat Brian Ortega to keep his title, and there is no other challenger left. Both men have fought twice before, with the last fight being a split decision win for the champ.

UFC President Dana White also believes it is the fight to make. He said, “It’s one of those things. They’re razor thin. He just comes in and puts on a performance like this. This is a guy that Volkanovski is going to have to, just get him out of the way and do it again.”

However, White has nothing in mind for Holloway right now and will start figuring things out on Tuesday.

A trilogy fight between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski

Max Holloway is one of the most popular and likable fighters in the world. After the kind of performance, he put up against Rodriguez; it leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind that he deserves a title shot next. However, other names except Alexander Volkanovski have also been brought up by Holloway himself for his next fight. Conor McGregor and Charles Oliveira are also on his list to fight next.

But the fight that would make the most sense right now for him is the fight against Volkanovski. The featherweight champion is 2-0 against ‘Blessed‘ right now, and he would like to get one back. McGregor is currently sidelined, and Oliveira is scheduled to take on Poirier for the title next month. So, UFC matchmakers can definitely push for the much-anticipated trilogy fight.

The last fight between the two ended on a controversial note as well. Most of the media outlets, MMA personalities, and fans had Holloway winning the fight. However, the judges gave the W for Volkanovski via a split decision.
