Can Junior and Justin Tafa dominate the UFC like the Diaz brothers did?

The Tafa brothers are famous for stepping in when one or the other gets injured. At UFC 298, Junior Tafa had to replace his brother after he got injured. The senior Tafa then returned the favor and stepped in to take on Karl Williams after the younger sibling got injured. “Sometimes I’m not ready to fight, so my brother goes and steps in and fights for me,” were the exact words of the 30-year-old during the media day.

The 27-year-old is now scheduled to take on Valter Walker in a highly exciting clash at UFC 305. Justin Tafa has always been confident about his younger brother’s abilities and skills. As he prepares for his next clash, let us examine the relationship between the two heavyweight powerhouses.

UFC heavyweight Justin Tafa suffered a massive injury, which forced him out of his fight at UFC 298. His younger brother, Junior Tafa, is now scheduled for his next fight at UFC 305. If we compare the records of both brothers, the younger sibling lacks a bit of experience inside the Octagon. The older sibling, till date, has appeared in nine fights in the UFC and has lost four fights out of them. ‘The Juggernaut’, on the other hand, has only featured in three fights and has managed to win only one. Both brothers are known for their immense power and can knock out opponents.

Before his move to MMA, Junior Tafa competed both in boxing and kickboxing and is considered a striking specialist. He holds a record of 4-4 in kickboxing when he fought in GLORY. Taking into account his boxing record, he has competed in only one professional fight and managed to win that. At 27, ‘The Juggernaut’ is fairly new to the UFC. While his record may not be as impressive as many others, he can win fights and has proven it in the past. His next opponent, Valter Walker, is fairly new to the UFC.

The Brazilian made his debut at UFC Fight Night and failed to win his clash. Unlike his last fight, the 27-year-old has sufficient time to prepare himself for this bout. But what exactly happened to Justin Tafa? Let us find out.

A closer look at the injury sustained by Justin Tafa before UFC 298

UFC 298 presented Justin Tafa with an opportunity to enter the UFC’s heavyweight rankings. But it seems destiny had different plans for the ‘Bad Man’. The 30-year-old suffered an injury before his clash, which forced him out of the fight. During the UFC’s official weigh-in show, it was announced that the elder Tafa was out of the clash. MMA Orbit shared the video on their X account, where the 30-year-old was seen clutching his knees in pain. What followed was utter drama when Junior Tafa decided to step in for his brother on a day’s notice.

The 27-year-old was scheduled to take on Karl Williams at UFC Fight Night on March 23 but decided to help out his brother. A lack of proper training camp hampered the chance for ‘The Juggernaut’ to earn his second consecutive victory. However, this time he will look to get back to winning ways at UFC 305.
