The opening bout of UFC Vegas 103 was indeed packed with some action and stylish strikes. Charles Johnson from Missouri, USA, tried to give it his all against the Uzbek star Ramazonbek Temirov. However, his trials failed and he was forced to face defeat via a unanimous decision. Joaquin Buckley seemed to stand in support of the Missouri native. But was this a wise choice for ‘New Mansa’?
Dana White’s UFC Fight Night 253 began with the Uzbek fighter landing a right fist and a spinning back kick on ‘InnerG’. The first two rounds witnessed the kind of dominance that Temirov exerted against Johnson. But it was the final round when Johnson decided to finally showcase his prowess. Well, he did have the potential to win, and he might have won had he shown the exact same energy in the first two rounds.
The judges, Sal D’Amato, Bryan Miner, and Tony Weeks, all scored the bout 28-29 in favor of the Uzbek flyweight contender. But ‘New Mansa’ was of a different opinion. He claimed that the judgment was controversial and took to X to reveal his opinion. Buckley tweeted, “Just broke some s— hearing the judges decision but that’s why your mindset should always be to finish every time.”

But this time, the fight fans stood in defense of the judges. While there were times when the judges did a terrible job at scoring the fights, it wasn’t the case at UFC Fight Night 253. Let’s see what the fans had to say about it.

Fans dismiss the allegations of controversial judging at UFC Vegas 103
One of the fans took straight aim at Buckley. The comment read, “don’t be ridiculous buck.” Meanwhile, many others claimed that there were no bad decisions on 1 March 2025. A fan wrote, “No bad decisions tonight. The Almeida scorecard was bad. That’s it.”
Another fan pointed out that Johnson actually lost the first two rounds. He commented, “Charles Johnson lost that clearly. He didnot do s— in 1st and 2nd round.” One more fan joined in and replied, “Nahh inner G lost that 2-1 clear. He wasn’t even urgent for the finish in the 3rd like you was against Imavov.” But the third round? It went in favor of Johnson and the judges agreed on that. A fan pointed it out and wrote, “Johnson did win 3rd round and that was it.” What remained unclear was the reason why the American flyweight tried to grapple against Temirov. A comment read, “Idk why he was tryna grapple with 1 min left lol, dumb on his part. He was clearly down 2-0.”

Well, Buckley did have some supporters. One fan who stood in support of Buckley’s voice commented, “100% the realest s— you’ve ever shared bro.” But most fight fans admitted that they would have liked it better had Johnson won. One fan weighed in on this and wrote, “I think most of the fans would’ve just preferred if Johnson won. I think objectively he lost the first two rounds. Although the first round was kind of close. And the third round was his.”
