Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen warns Jorge Masvidal that his options for future fights are sparse. Jorge Masvidal hasn’t featured in the Octagon since his loss to Colby Covington at UFC 272, back in March. Since then, the division has moved on, and once a title contender now has found himself searching for opponents.
‘Gamebred’ is struggling from injuries to make his return in the Octagon. Moreover, he has denied any reports of him returning to the Octagon at the end of this year. Most preferably, he will launch his comeback in the 1st quarter of 2023.

Furthermore, he even claims that he is dealing with injuries and legal battles. His last fight left him hanging in and out of the Octagon. According to Masvidal, he is recovering from the injuries inflicted from his last fight and also facing the three felonies by Colby Covington for his alleged assault.
Sonnen believes Jorge Masvidal has limited options for his next fight
UFC legend on his YouTube channel describes how ‘Gamebred’ will face difficulty in deciding his next fight. The issue isn’t a lack of opponents. What Sonnen explains is that Masvidal is a huge name and prefers the main event for pay-per-view. That will be difficult unless there’s a title on the line.
‘The American Gangster’ suggested that Masvidal should learn from Conor McGregor who featured in the main event for both of his last fights against Dustin Poirier. Even though he was not challenging for the title.
Chael said, “I mean Conor McGregor Vs Dustin Poirier both times they did it. Just to remind you, for record-setting. In the top 10 list, they fell in there. Conor’s knocked off one of his own records and replaced it with a new one. But he did it both times. There’s no belt up. Colby Vs Masvidal, there was no belt up.“

“Whatever Conor does next is going to be main event. It’s going to be pay-per-view. There’s gonna be no belt up.” He further added.
For him to be involved in a title fight, currently the champion needs to fight him, which doesn’t look likely. So he will have to choose to defend his BMF belt, which seems unlikely as well. So it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to start a pay-per-view main event.

What’s more, his potential next opponent, Gilbert Burns is now preparing a fight against Neil Magny. So we won’t see ‘Street Jesus’ inside the anytime soon.
