Did Jorge Masvidal just outsmart Ben Askren again, or is Askren just an easy target?

What if someone made fun of a tattoo you took your time and patience to have on your body? How would it feel? Jorge Masvidal surely knows the feeling from the time when Ben Askren had taken a jibe at his tattoo at UFC 272. Long-time rivals had a face-off in the welterweight about in UFC 239 in 2019 and Masvidal was the winner after giving a KO in five seconds with a flying knee. The tattoo byGamebredwas exactly of that moment and surprisingly it was a tattoo during the UFC 272 weigh-ins.

Askren thought it was real and did take the chance to take a jibe at his rival.

Jorge Masvidal is making it to the headlines for his first boxing bout against Nate Diaz. However, this would not be their first battle as they previously fought in the UFC and it ended in a doctor’s call as Masvidal won the fight via KO. A similar high kick happened during Masvidal’s fight with Askren as well, where he secured the title again and decided to make a tattoo of it during his next bout at UFC  272.

This made Askren salty and he did not shy away from commenting about the same. He had then tweeted, “What a stupid logo.” Along with that, the fighter, who was defeated for the first time by Masvidal, added more jibes about the same tattoo. Askren told The MMA Hour in 2022, “It’s terrible. Oh God, it just looks like crap. That’s something like a teenager gets and you’re like, ‘Oh s***, I thought that was going to look a lot better, I thought this was going to be badass but it looks kind of dopey.’ He’s rich. He can go to the best tattoo artist in the place.”

‘Funkynever shied away from the loss and never denied Masvidal his achievements, but the Olympic wrestler also realized that this win meant a lot to Masvidal. However, Askren had also pointed out that Masvidal did not reinvent himself and he wanted to continue the rough dealings of his opponent even after 25 minutes were over, which was the case for Colby Covington as well.

He looked famished and exhausted when he went for the weigh-in. However, all ended well, as both fighters had 175 lbs. The weight cut might be problematic for Masvidal because his last fight against Gilbert Burns was back in͏ 2023. On the other hand, Diaz has fought more fights and has been active till now.
