When the matter comes to clean and heavy striking inside the UFC Octagon, Jorge Masvidal is a name that will come to most MMA fans’ tongues. Masvidal’s fierce striking was witnessed by MMA fans in his fights against ‘Nate Diaz‘, ‘Donald the Cowboy Cerrone’ and many more. The ‘BMF’ of UFC is also notably curious about the fights taking place in other promotions across the world. Masvidal frequently responds to and makes observations about UFC and other fights from various promotions. In a similar spirit, he recently used Facebook to express his views about the ‘kickboxing’ fight of the former UFC Heavyweight Fighter, Alistair Overeem.
The fight took place under the Heavyweight division of ‘Glory’ kickboxing promotion, where Overeem had fought previously as well. ‘The Reem’ went on to secure a victory over Badr Hari by the judge’s unanimous decision.

Jorge Masvidal was apparently stunned by the fight
Masvidal shared an article about this fight on his Facebook page and captioned it as “HOLY F**K!?!!”. His caption clearly implied that he was rather startled at the proceedings of the fight.
The matchup between Overeem and Hari was the final of a ‘trilogy’ of fights. The athletes were in a tie at 1-1 prior to this fight. Hence, this trilogy fight was scheduled to decide the victor of this over-a-decade-old rivalry. It all started way back in 2008 with the first fight between Overeem and Badr where ‘The Reem’ knocked out Badr in the first round securing a win.
Their rematch was set up in the following year and this time Hari leveled things up as he too knocked out Overeem in the first round itself. Following this, Overeem left ‘Glory’ and went on to fight in multiple MMA promotions. After his UFC release in 2021, Overeem once again joined ‘Glory’ and opened up the chances for this trilogy fight.
How did the Overeem-Badr trilogy fight go?
The initial minutes of the first round went to Hari as he caught Overeem with a big right hook. In return, Overeem landed some good knees towards the midway of the first round.
The second round was also controlled mostly by Hari landing a volume of shots on ‘The Reem’. However, Overeem turned things around as he connected with a brutal uppercut that visibly rocked Hari.
The Final round was entirely dominated by ‘The Reem’. He landed several big shots, one of which floored Hari. He managed to climb up to his feet, but another gruesome combination from Overeem once again sends Hari down to the canvas. Although both of them went the full length, ‘The Reem’ snatched the victory in this showdown.
