Ben Askren and Jorge Masvidal previously met inside the Octagon at UFC 293 in July 2019. The night was very short-lived for the 39-year-old after Masvidal ended the fight in just five seconds after connecting with a flying knee. Askren suffered the quickest knockout in the history of UFC and then retired from the sport after featuring in just one more fight. Masvidal, who retired from the sport in 2023, hinted that he was “unretired” in a one-word tweet on Monday.

After the tweet, Askren, in a recent Instagram video, showed his willingness to come out of retirement and said, “If Dana called me and said Ben, Jorge Masvidal UFC 300 International. I don’t give a damn. I’m out of retirement. I’ll fight him. I don’t care. Unfortunately, but he’ll never say yes to that unless maybe he loses some more money or something.”

Masvidal was last seen inside the Octagon when he took on Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. Burns won the fight via decision and forced ‘ Gamebred’ to retire from the sport after he failed to finish ‘ Durinho’. Masvidal also hinted that he might feature in a boxing match in 2024, which linked him to Jake Paul.

Nevertheless, fans will certainly wait desperately to see him back in action inside the boxing ring. His last outings in the UFC have not been fruitful after facing defeats in his consecutive four fights and losing back-to-back against Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title.
