There is no love lost between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. Even after retirement, ‘Gamebred’ still takes every opportunity to take aim at the former interim champion. Similarly, he took yet another jibe at Covington after the recent incident where Sean Strickland verbally trashed ‘Chaos’ on social media.

Colby Covington has a big fight coming up at UFC 296. He will make his return to the Octagon after almost a year and a half to fight for the UFC welterweight title against Leon Edwards. However, Covington is still making waves outside of fighting and recently was on the receiving end of middleweight champion Sean Strickland’s verbal smackdown. That followed with another jibe by ‘Chaos’ former friend-turned-foe, Jorge Masvidal. Let’s take a look at what transpired.

‘Chaos’ recently appeared in an interview where he had some distasteful things to say about middleweight champion Sean Strickland. He claimed that he would slap ‘Tarzan’ and that he had no IQ when it came to fighting. That did not sit right with Strickland and, as fans know, he can be very vocal when he wants to. He commented on a post on Instagram and rained down on Covington with some harsh words, claiming that he had no respect for Colby Covington.

“The only thing Colby can do is call 911 ‘someone send help’ not one ounce of respect for him,” said Sean Strickland. He further mentioned how Colby Covington avoided a confrontation against Fabrício Werdum and even got Jorge Masvidal arrested after it was he who had some mean things to say about ‘Gamebred’. Strickland added, “You ran from Verdum and you called the cops on George [Jorge] after running your mouth.”

Jorge Masvidal shared a screenshot of Sean Strickland’s comment on his Instagram story and took the opportunity to take a jibe at Colby Covington, claiming that nobody respects the former interim champion. “Truth be said no one but then fake a** fan respect that b*tch,” said Masvidal. This verbal jibe came days after the former BMF champion accepted a plea deal for the assault charges laid against him regarding the Covington altercation in Miami in 2022.

The felony charges against Masvidal were dropped

Jorge Masvidal recently pled guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge as a part of a plea deal. There were other felony charges against him which were also dropped. ‘Gamebred’ will not be facing any prison time, however, he will have to pay the court fees catering to the assault case. Masvidal even shared a message for Colby after the court ruled their decision.

“F*** you, Colby. It’s going to be a f***ing movie now,” said Jorge Masvidal. He believes that his lawsuit saga could be a great idea for Hollywood filmmakers to make a move about it. The former UFC star added, “All these orders, all these restraining orders been lifted off. It’s going to be a f***ing movie.” It’s safe to say that Masvidal took a sigh of relief after getting rid of the legal complications more than a year after the incident.

Colby Covington would have to ignore such comments if he is to showcase an impactful performance against Leon Edwards. The welterweight champion is on an incredible undefeated run, and it does not look like he will be an easy fight for ‘Chaos’. We will have to wait and see how things pan out on December 16th.
