Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler is finally a lock! The much-awaited clash will go down at the UFC 303 as per the announcement from UFC CEO Dana White at the UFC 300 post-fight presser. McGregor had announced on New Year’s Eve that he would be facing Chandler at the International Fight Week and seems like ‘Mystic Mac’ was right again. But, there are still some who have concerns about this bout, like Jorge Masvidal.

‘Notorious’ has been away from the Octagon since his last bout against Masvidal’s teammate Dustin Poirier back in 2021. Masvidal himself is gearing͏ ͏up to f͏ace Nat͏e Diaz in June, but McGregor’s return announcement has him ͏doubting the Irishman’s inclusion in the drug testing pool. Let’s del͏ve into what Mas͏vid͏al had to say about the former dual-weight champion.

Conor McGregor’s clean drug tests seem to mean nothing to the former BMF belt holder. In a conversation with the media, Jorge Masvidal asserted that he would like to witness more tests on Conor McGregor when asked about his thoughts on McGregor’s return. “I don’t know man, just test that motherfu**er. You know, we’re all here getting tested.”

He further added, “USADA has been knocking at my door for fu**ing years. I don’t want to see people not properly get drug tested, you know? ‘Cause if I’m getting drug tested, all should be getting drug tested,” said Masvidal. The ‘Notorious’ has been working hard for his comeback and White’s confirmation was like music to his years. Interestingly, Conor McGregor has been tested five times this year which is twice the amount tested by any other fighter.

Last year, USADA and Conor McGregor entered a deadlock after the former blocked the Irishman’s return over their standard protocol. After much back and forth. McGregor entered the testing pool late last year. USADA was shown the door not too soon after, and replaced by Drug Free Sport International. And the most interesting thing among all this hubbub – McGregor passed all his tests – both USADA ones and DFSI ones. The 35-year-old is the most-tested UFC athlete this year, per records.

The fight is scheduled to take place on June 29th at UFC 303 and will be the five-round main event. Additionally, their clash could possibly be a title fight clash, according to Michael Chandler.

Michael Chandler suspects a title fight between him and McGregor

It took Conor McGregor one year to convince everyone that he was ready to fight again after his foot was badly hurt in his fight against Dustin Poirier. As per the announcement, the fight will be a five-rounder and both the fighters seem to be agreeing upon the fact that the comeback fight should be a five-rounder. However, Chandler suspects that there’s something more to it.

Reports had emerged that suggested that Dana White was looking to add a 165-lb division soon, and Michael Chandler believes that their welterweight fight could turn into a title fight for the new division. “That was one of the rumors as well right, for the 165 lbs belt, obviously that has not happened. But you know what, we all love to talk and even me in this position now, I wouldn’t be surprised if all of a sudden that bout agreement comes over and it says ‘for the 165 lbs title’, you never know. The UFC has to keep a lot of things secret, even to us,” said Chandler in a conversation with the media.

‘Mystic Mac’ is finally making a comeback, and it appears that he is beyond happy about it. Nonetheless, what’s your take on their fight? Do you believe Dana White would push McGregor to be the champion again? State your thoughts in the comments below.
