How did Jon Jones drop the heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic with the one well-placed spinning back kick? That kick from UFC 309 echoed throughout the martial arts community, leading action movie star Michael Jai White to share a few words of praise for ‘Bones’, and sharing a video explaining how that kick actually works.

Michael Jai White, after watching how Jon Jones defeated the greatest UFC heavyweight fighter, shared a message for ‘Bones’, ending the debate about who the real ‘G.O.A.T.’ is. According to him, it’s undeniable now that Jones is indeed on a different level than any other MMA fighter ever. “Saturday night, [Jon Jones] confirmed his status as the undisputed best combat fighter who ever lived… He’s not only my favorite fighter, he has become one of my favorite human beings who I’m proud to call a friend and fellow martial artist,” the ‘Blood and Bones’ star wrote.

Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan has mentioned many times that Michael Jai White has “legit” martial arts technique. So who better to share how Jon Jones’ spinning kick works? The action star shared a video of him breaking down that technique with Jon Jones when they trained with each other a few years back.

“On a more personal, fight-nerd perspective, I’m proud to see him master a front kick and non-telegraph techniques I shared that he used successfully against Stipe,” White further stated. “I drilled it with Jon and his striking coach, Alex in a training session in his home gym after a light sparring session we had. Now that Jon has displayed it, I think it’s time I can share a bit of our session with the martial arts community so that others might benefit.”

Michael Jai White claims that not only did Jon Jones learn that kick pretty well but also learned it pretty fast, faster than others. Thereafter, his wife, Gillian White, chimed into the conversation to praise her husband’s effective coaching skills. “My bada** husband…and one of his favorite things to do…train with other bada** fighters,” White’s wife commented on his post.

Despite his loss, Stipe Miocic remains one of the most revered UFC fighters in history. The fighter-cum-firefighter had been away from the sport for a good three years, and coming off of a loss, there were still doubts about how big of a challenge he’d prove to be for ‘Bones’. When reports started popping up about Miocic picking up an injury that seemingly worried the fans, he eased the situation by claiming he’s in a comfortable place and has “been through a lot worse” in his MMA career.

“Let me start this post by saying I am good. Been through a lot worse. I hope everybody enjoyed the show on Saturday. What an incredible way to go out! I started this journey fighting in local bowling alleys, & ended it selling out Madison Square Garden. It truly doesn’t get better than that,” Stipe Miocic wrote on Instagram. Well, it’s safe to say that he gave it his all, but in sports, one man’s loss is another man’s gain, and surely the win over him has helped Jon Jones make a case for his pound-for-pound no.1 status.
