The final pay-per-view of the year, UFC 310, will feature an exciting fight between two top contenders, Alexander Volkov and Ciryl Gane, who’re known for their tall frames. But they aren’t the only giants in the UFC. CEO Dana White has stacked some big hitters in the heavyweight division. The UFC is not only about the best technical, exciting, and entertaining fighters; the company also has some of the biggest fighters in all of MMA on a literal basis. Ever wondered how tall the top-ranked fighters really are?

Jon Jones, Alexander Volkov, Tom Aspinall, and other UFC Heavyweights ranked by height

When it comes to the best fighters in any division, the top 5 ranked fighters matter, and that includes the champion, Jon Jones. The 5th tallest fighter is Sergei Pavlovich; the Russian knockout artist stands 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs around 260 pounds. The 4th place is tied between Frenchman Ciryl Gane and Naperville native Curtis Blaydes, with both heavyweights standing 6 feet, 4 inches tall. The next one may be the champion, but unfortunately, he’s not the biggest giant in the heavyweight division—Jon Jones.

Jones takes the 3rd spot, reported to be 6 feet, 4 inches tall. If you’re wondering what’s the difference between the 4th-spot fighters and the 3rd-spot fighters, well, there are certain reports that argue about Jones being an inch taller. So, to play it safe, it seems the 3rd spot is just about the right place for him. However, someone who is, in fact, 6 feet, 5 inches tall is the interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall. The Briton takes the 2nd spot, while another Russian heavyweight, whom he’s yet to fight, takes the moniker of the tallest UFC fighter on the current roster: Alexander Volkov.

At 6 feet, 7 inches, Volkov is one of the tallest fighters to ever grace the Octagon. But the tallest fighter in the history of the UFC isn’t currently active; former Dutch MMA fighter Stefan Struve holds the record, having a towering 7-foot frame. But with UFC 310 approaching, guess who’s the current tallest fighter coming back for some action this weekend?

Does height really give Volkov an edge, or is it all about skill in the Octagon?

The 6-foot-7-inch Russian behemoth has always been on the bigger side for most of their fighting career. Since turning pro, Alexander Volkov has only been acquainted with fighting as a heavyweight and often weighs in around the 250-pound mark, and had once gained up to 265 pounds. However, some sources claim that during his younger years, Volkov sported a rather lanky physique and weighed as low as 225 pounds.

‘Drago’ has always had the height advantage, but that didn’t necessarily help him in the reach department. Despite his tall stature, the Russian fighter only has an 80-inch reach, which is surely a lot, but not enough to earn the top spot. Currently, among the current active fighters, Robelis Despaigne has the highest reach—87 inches. Also, he’s the only other fighter besides Volkov who is also 6-foot-7-inches tall.

The UFC is already crowded with giants, and there’s no doubt there will be more in the future. Let us know what’s your take on the top 5 names.
