Jon Jones has found a voice coming to his aid in his recent legal troubles! The undisputed UFC heavyweight champion has been reported to have been charged with two counts of misdemeanor stemming from his March 30 incident with an agent from ‘Drug Free Sport International’. The incident occurred when two agents from the organization paid a visit to ‘Bones’s home to collect samples for the UFC’s anti-doping program.
However, things took a turn for the worse as one of the agents later filed a report against Jones alleging that he had threatened her and her co-worker and had even taken her phone to record the confrontation. Now, Chael Sonnen, a former UFC middleweight and current analyst, has come out to clear the air surrounding the story as he revealed what the incident looked like from Jon Jones’s perspective!

Crystal Martinez, working with the UFC’s anti-doping partner ‘Drug Free Sport International’, stated in her report that while visiting ‘Bones’s house for sample collection, the UFC star had gotten agitated when he couldn’t provide a urine sample and was asked for a blood test instead. According to Martinez, Jones then threatened her, saying, “Do you know what happens to people who come to my house?…they end up dead.” Jones had also claimed he would be suing the agents for their actions according to Martinez.
However, according to Chael Sonnen, that’s not the entire picture. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the UFC veteran shared that, “Jon, in his version of the story said he was celebrating, code for drinking, he was taking a nap, code for I don’t really want to be bothered. And, I think we all understand that right, we would all understand if somebody comes to your house and they’re banging on the door and you’re in the middle of the day and you got to jump up and you to go do this drug test and that’s all part of it.”
Sonnen further elaborated that he isn’t trying to offer “an excuse” for Jones’s alleged actions, but rather his point is to highlight the fact that both the agent and Jones are sharing the same story from their own perspectives. He stated, “Like Jon is openly telling you this wasn’t my friendliest version of myself.” It is indeed an interesting response from Sonnen to clear the situation, as him and Jones have been involved in several back-and forth exchanges on social media over the years, with shots being fired from both sides.

In a since-deleted post shared on Instagram that was later reported by Brett Okamoto on ESPN, Jon Jones had come out to blast the accusations being leveled against him over the incident involving the two testing agents. Jones stated, “I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my home after the testing session, where we exchanged a high five and a hug… I must say, this particular tester behaved quite unprofessionally and even breached standard protocol along with HIPAA laws.”
He also shared that while he was “frustrated with the unprofessionalism” and may have used swear words at that moment, the visit ended with both parties going their separate ways amicably. So far, there haven’t been any further comments by Jones regarding the situation and for now, all eyes will be on the upcoming hearing which will play a crucial role in what the future holds for one of the greatest mixed martial artists to ever step foot into the Octagon.
