It is common for two UFC fighters to find themselves in a really ugly spat, especially leading up to a potential fight. Over the years, the promotion and the fans have bore witness to some really nasty beef between fighters. A recent one worth mentioning is the ‘Real African’ debate between UFC Middleweight champ Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis.
The debate soon turned into a spat which then turned into a really ugly feud between the two fighters. Adesanya stepped into the ring after Dricus Du Plessis’ victory at UFC 290 and the two were seen engaging in a heated exchange. The Stylebender made some questionable comments at Du Plessis that were frowned upon by fans and critics. The fighter faced a lot of backlash for this. Now, it seems UFC GOAT Jon Jones has settled the ‘real African’ debate from his end – and it is neither of them.

Jon Jones makes his pick for his favorite African fighter
Jon Jones isn’t afraid of anyone. He is the current UFC Heavyweight champion and believes in speaking his mind. Initially, Adesanya and Jones were beefing, and the two were calling each other out, constantly. However, the fight never happened since they are from different weight classes. Now, it seems they have both squashed their beef and are friends.
Still, Jon Jones didn’t pick the Stylebender as his favorite African fighter. In a recent podcast interview with the OverDogs podcast, Jon Jones was asked who his favorite African fighter was between Israel Adesanya, Dricus Du Plessis, and Middleweight fighter & BKFCstar Mike Perry (Perry had conducted a DNA test, according to which he is 2% African).

Jones went ahead and picked Perry over Adesanya and Du Plessis. He answered saying, “The real ****** himself, Mike Perry!”. Jones and Adesanya have only recently started working on their friendship. However, it will be interesting to see how the Stylebender handles the news of getting picked over for the ‘Real African’ debate by one of UFC’s greatest fighters ever.
Adesanya had taken Du Plessis’ comments to heart, and it enraged him. What the fans are waiting to find out is how Adesanya will react to Jones’ comments.

Jon Jones will be sparring with Israel Adesanya? Training plans in the pipeline
Jones is one of the very few UFC fighters who has not only tussled with some of the most skilled and decorated fighters but has defeated them all in decisive fashion. After he won the UFC HW title by defeating Ciryl Gane, he proceeded to call out Heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic who was sitting ringside. The two will now fight at UFC 295, on 12 November.

This fight might be different from all of Jones’ previous fights and he will need all the help he can get – and it seems he might have that already. Adesanya recently confirmed that Jones and he might be training together. The plans to make that happen are still in the pipeline.
